PR Account Manager

Job Description:

dentsu is a network designed for what’s next, helping clients predict and plan for disruptive future opportunities and create new paths to growth in a sustainable economy. As a unified organisation, dentsu brings together deep expertise across media, creative and customer experience to deliver integrated solutions that drive meaningful progress for clients and society.

Dentsu Creative operates in over 21 markets worldwide with more than 2,200 dedicated specialists. Bringing together our Japanese heritage in craft, data and technology, and our deep understanding of media and contemporary culture, Dentsu Creative is a new global creative agency. Born in Japan, raised in a digital world. We help transform brands and business through the power of Modern Creativity: which creates culture, changes society and invents the future and is accelerated by our deep specialist expertise in digital experience, earned attention and entertainment.

At Dentsu Creative, we believe you can’t grow with the status quo. Growth comes from challenging convention, earning attention, and creating ideas that make an impact where it truly matters. That is what we mean by Innovating to Impact. As the agency world evolves, the most valuable partners are those who can connect brand, experience, media, and commerce into one clear system that drives real business results.

We also have big ambitions for the future of DC. Over the next twelve months we are focused on creating five pieces of great work that define our next chapter, and we are working towards becoming Agency of the Year by 2027. To do that we need people who are hungry. Hungry to grow client partnerships, hungry to create exceptional work, and hungry to make a real impact. Our cultural behaviour is simple: Be More Dog. Curious. Energetic. Positive. Loyal to the team. Always chasing the next opportunity.

We are now excited to invite applications for the role of PR Account Manager with our awesome Dentsu Creative Public Relations team in Sydney.

The role:

This role is for someone who loves the pace of the news cycle, knows how to turn a smart insight into a sharp media angle, and wants to work across brands with genuine public relevance.

You’ll work across corporate and consumer communications with a varied portfolio spanning automotive, education and financial services.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is media-hungry, commercially curious and confident working with data, experts and emerging issues to create stories journalists actually want.

Core responsibilities:

• Drive day-to-day momentum across press office and campaign activity, keeping work moving, stakeholders informed and outputs consistently high quality.
• Develop and pitch timely, relevant stories across motoring, lifestyle, education, economics, business, consumer trends and the wider news agenda.
• Translate data, expert commentary, product news and complex issues into clear, credible and compelling media narratives.
• Build strong relationships with journalists and proactively identify opportunities to insert clients into the right conversations at the right time.
• Monitor the media landscape closely, spotting emerging issues, competitor activity and proactive angles that can create earned attention for clients.
• Draft and review PR materials including media releases, pitches, briefing notes, media lists, coverage updates, reports and client communications.
• Work closely with senior team members, junior team members and specialists across media, creative and strategy to deliver integrated, high-impact PR work.
• Help manage timelines, WIPs, approvals and reporting so work is delivered with pace, accuracy and strong attention to detail.

A bit about you:

• You have experience in a media relations-heavy PR role, ideally within an agency, corporate or government environment.
• You understand what makes a strong media story and can confidently shape angles for different sectors, audiences and journalists.
• You are comfortable working with data, trends, expert commentary and complex subject matter, and know how to turn it into clear, accessible communications.
• You genuinely enjoy pitching, building media relationships and staying close to the news cycle.
• You are organised, proactive and calm under pressure, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines across several clients.
• You have strong writing skills, sharp attention to detail and the judgement to know when something is client-ready.
• You enjoy working collaboratively with senior leads, junior team members and specialists across the broader agency.
• You are curious, commercially aware and interested in the worlds your clients operate in — from automotive and education to credit, identity and fraud.

What’s in it for you:

• Real flexibility to work when and where you feel most productive with our ‘Be the Best You’ policy, which includes a $250 contribution to your home office set-up.
• The opportunity to give back with dedicated volunteer leave and our whole-company event, One Day for Change.
• 5 weeks' annual leave after 2 years of service and 3 whole-company Wellness days off per year for you to switch off and take your day, your way.
• Career Development and Learning & Development opportunities, including access to our global online dentsu University.

Become a champion for meaningful progress:

Our diverse and inclusive culture enables our people to bring their whole selves to work and be proud of doing so. For us, this is the foundation for great innovation, which in turn creates better outcomes for our people, partners and communities. We encourage applications from people with disabilities, and of all ages, nationalities, backgrounds and cultures.

If you want to be part of a global network where opportunities are limitless, we look forward to welcoming you.
