PL.1624.Labourer/Driver

Swansea Council's Furnished Tenancies department is seeking a reliable Labourer/Driver to join a busy team delivering furniture and white‑goods to council tenants. You will operate a 7.5‑tonne vehicle, handle manual loading and unloading, and ensure a safe, timely service while maintaining high standards of customer care and health & safety. The position is permanent - full time.

The salary for the position is Grade 3 £26,016.00 per annum.

• Operate a 7.5‑tonne vehicle safely to deliver furniture and white‑goods to council tenants.
• Load, unload, and transport items using proper manual handling techniques.
• Position and install furniture and appliances in tenants' homes as required.
• Maintain accurate delivery records and complete necessary paperwork.
• Conduct pre‑ and post‑journey vehicle inspections and report any defects.
• Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations during deliveries.
• Communicate effectively with tenants, housing officers, and team members.
• Assist colleagues with loading, unloading, and other team tasks as needed.
• Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and serviced according to schedule.
• Provide excellent customer service, addressing any tenant queries or concerns.

• Valid CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification for 7.5‑tonne vehicles.
• Full UK driving licence appropriate for the vehicle class.
• Proven ability to lift and move heavy furniture and white‑goods safely.
• Experience in delivery or driver roles, preferably within a council or housing environment.
• Good communication skills and a customer‑focused attitude.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a busy team.
• Basic IT skills for recording deliveries and completing paperwork.
• Knowledge of health and safety best practices for manual handling and vehicle operation.
• Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
• Flexibility to work varied hours and respond to urgent delivery requests.
