Personal Support Worker

The Opportunity:
We are currently looking to fill 1 Permanent Part-Time Personal Support Worker (Known internally as Support Services Attendant) position in our Hamilton Outreach Program, located at 20 Jarvis Street, Hamilton, ON.
Wage: $23.01 per hour. This compensation is inclusive of a $3.00 per hour wage enhancement from the Ontario government for hours spent directly supporting clients. The wage enhancement does not apply to training and paid leave.
Hours: Up to 29 hours per week.
Schedule: Day shifts, 6:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., Sunday through Saturday.
Location: Hamilton and surrounding areas, including Stoney Creek, Freelton, Copetown, and Mount Hope.

Responsibilities:

• Assist consumers in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living in accordance with individual service plans and March of Dimes Canada policies and procedures:

Personal care

Lifts and transfers

Rising/retiring

Bowel and bladder procedures

Meal preparation and feeding

Range of motion exercises

Other light housekeeping duties

• Perform duties in a professional manner that respects the dignity and right to privacy of consumers and maintains consumer and staff health and safety.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification
• Experience working with people with physical disabilities, or experience, knowledge, or understanding of Independent Living or consumer-based care
• Knowledge of and ability to perform transferring, lifting, bowel and bladder routines, and other attendant care duties
• Physical Demands Self-Analysis required upon hire
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours
• Valid driver's licence and insurance
