This Opportunity:
We are currently looking to fill a part-time, permanent Personal Support Worker (Internally known as Support Services Attendant) role in our Southwest Region.
Schedule: Includes mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Wage: $21.88 per hour. This compensation is inclusive of a $3.00 per hour wage enhancement from the Ontario government for hours spent directly supporting clients. The wage enhancement does not apply to training and paid leave.
Hours: Up to 30 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
- Assists clients in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living in accordance with individual service plans and with March of Dimes Canada policies and procedures:
- Personal care
- Lifts and Transfers
- Rising/retiring
- Bowel and bladder procedures
- Meal preparation and feeding
- Range of motion exercises
- Other light housekeeping duties
- Performs duties in a professional manner, which respects the dignity and right to privacy and maintains client and staff health and safety.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- High School Diploma
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification or be willing to obtain within three months of hire
- Experience working with people with physical disabilities; experience/knowledge/understanding of Independent Living or client-based care
- Knowledge of and abilities in transferring, lifting, bowel and bladder routines and other attendant care duties
- Physical Demands Self-Analysis Required upon hire
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours
