We are seeking a detail-oriented PCB Designer to support our Electrical Engineering team in developing high-voltage programmable DC power supplies and capacitor chargers. You will turn engineering concepts into reliable, manufacturable PCB designs and mechanical assemblies, build prototypes, support production in building those PCB assemblies, and maintain accurate design documentation. This is a hands-on role in a collaborative environment where layout quality directly affects product safety, performance, and reliability. Create BOM and write engineering change orders as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Drawing detailed electrical schematics and layout design using PADS software
• Work with PCB manufacturing team to make needed improvements in the PCB design
• Adhere to company guidelines and policies in PCB design and mechanical design
• Assist engineers in lab prototype testing, involving through-hole and SMT parts soldering
• Carefully consider any possible impact of thermal effects and regulatory compliance issues in the PCB and or mechanical design activity
• Adhere to company adopted design guide lines
Specific Job Duties include reading drawings, complex PCB layouts and schematics of modern microelectronic parts and electromechanical parts.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A PCB DESIGNER
• Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or technical school
• Three to six years of related experience and/or training (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience)
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to navigate and use internet/intranet and other programs such as the MS Office package including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access, or Company-wide cross functional Enterprise Resource Planning software. Must also be able to perform limited troubleshooting. Solid Works or Pads Logic and Power PCB or Mentor Graphics PCB layout.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
SALARY RANGE
The starting annual base pay for the role is between USD $90,000 and $120,000. The actual base is dependent upon many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. The role may also be eligible for variable bonus programs and benefits.
