OT Architect – Mining

BluePearl is seeking an experienced Operational Technology (OT) Architect to join a leading organisation within the mining industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing technology architecture across the Digital Technology (DT) and Operational Technology (OT) domains.

This role focuses on identifying suitable technologies, designing scalable and effective platforms, and ensuring that architecture decisions deliver measurable business value while aligning with enterprise strategy.

The successful candidate will develop and maintain architecture models, standards, and practices across information, data, applications, and technology infrastructure, supporting both current operational requirements and future business objectives.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain OT technology architecture aligned with enterprise and business strategies.
  
• Define baseline and target architectures across information, data, applications, and technology infrastructure.
  
• Evaluate, select, and recommend technologies and platforms that support business objectives.
  
• Lead the architecture lifecycle, including requirements gathering, solution design, vendor selection, costing, and implementation planning.
  
• Develop technology strategies, architecture roadmaps, standards, and policies.
  
• Support the migration of existing Qlik applications and dashboards to Amazon QuickSight.
  
• Design and optimise business intelligence and analytics solutions using AWS, Amazon QuickSight, and Qlik.
  
• Ensure technology solutions meet functional, technical, operational, security, scalability, and performance requirements.
  
• Collaborate with business leaders, technical teams, external suppliers, and geographically dispersed stakeholders.
  
• Oversee technology architecture activities and provide technical direction to delivery teams.
  
• Manage supplier and offshore resource engagement to ensure effective delivery.
  
• Mentor and develop team members while promoting technical excellence and continuous improvement.
  
• Engage with senior executives to communicate architectural recommendations, risks, costs, and business benefits.
  
• Ensure solutions align with corporate policies, operational requirements, and safety expectations.
  

Essential Technical Skills

• Strong experience in technology architecture within IT and/or OT environments.
  
• Hands-on knowledge of Amazon QuickSight, AWS, and Qlik.
  
• Experience designing and implementing business intelligence and analytics solutions.
  
• Experience migrating Qlik applications, reports, or dashboards to Amazon QuickSight is strongly preferred.
  
• Knowledge of application architecture, infrastructure, systems integration, and technology platforms.
  
• Experience developing enterprise technology strategies, standards, and roadmaps.
  
• Understanding of solution design, technology evaluation, vendor management, costing, and implementation.
  
• Experience working in complex corporate or multinational environments.
  

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Operational Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  
• TOGAF or an equivalent architecture certification is preferred.
  
• MDP, MBA, or an equivalent management qualification is advantageous but not essential.
  

Experience Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in a corporate IT and/or OT environment, including senior leadership responsibilities.
  
• 8+ years of experience in IT/OT technology architecture.
  
• Experience in a related technical field, such as application development, systems deployment, implementation, or infrastructure.
  
• Demonstrated experience delivering technology architecture solutions in complex business environments.
  
• Experience working with external suppliers, offshore resources, and cross-functional teams.
