About Pact Coffee

At Pact, we’re obsessed with incredible coffee.

We seek out the world’s best coffee growers, farmers whose skill and dedication produce coffees of rare quality. Our role is to honour that work, by roasting with precision, making every step effortless for our customers, and holding ourselves to the same uncompromising standards. We want every cup to reflect the care of the grower, the rigour of our team, and the unmistakable pleasure of coffee at its best.

As a proud B Corp, we’re committed to doing business the right way. That means we’re held to account - for how we trade, how we treat people, and how we treat the land we use.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Operations Manager with a strong manufacturing or production background to strengthen and continually improve how our Haslemere Roastery operates.

This is a hands on role with site wide responsibility for Health & Safety, alongside operational standards, SOPs, equipment reliability, compliance and continuous improvement.

You’ll bring practical manufacturing experience to the role, working across Production, Roasting, Facilities, Warehousing and wider Operations to identify risks, solve operational problems and improve the way we work.

You will work closely with the managers responsible for these areas, providing expertise, challenge and support while they retain responsibility for the day to day management of their teams and functions.

The role is not a replacement for the existing functional managers. Instead, it provides dedicated senior operational capability across H&S, standards, reliability and improvement, with particular emphasis on making sure the site operates safely, consistently and effectively.

You will report to the Operations Director and work as part of the wider Operations management team.

What You’ll Do

• Own Health & Safety across the Haslemere site, ensuring appropriate standards, risk assessments, controls, training and procedures are in place across Production, Roasting, Facilities, Warehousing and wider Operations.
• Work closely with the managers responsible for each functional area, providing practical operational expertise, support and constructive challenge to improve how the site operates.
• Bring strong manufacturing and production experience to identify operational risks, bottlenecks and opportunities to improve safety, reliability, efficiency and ways of working.
• Investigate recurring operational, process and equipment issues, using root-cause analysis to develop and implement practical, lasting solutions.
• Lead agreed continuous improvement initiatives across the site, working with teams to implement and sustain improvements.
• Own and maintain the site SOP framework, ensuring procedures and operational standards are practical, current and consistently implemented.
• Own and drive the site’s HACCP, GMP and BRCGS standards, ensuring food safety and operational controls are effectively implemented, maintained and continuously improved, and that the site remains audit-ready.
• Work across Production, Roasting, Facilities, Warehousing and Procurement & Inventory to resolve cross functional issues and support the Operations Director with agreed operational projects and improvements.

Requirements

We’re looking for someone who has built their career in manufacturing or production and has developed strong Health & Safety and operational improvement experience alongside it.

• An IOSH or NEBOSH qualification, with strong practical H&S experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience managing HACCP.
• Good understanding of BRCGS, including audit readiness and compliance.
• Strong understanding of risk assessment, safe systems of work and incident investigation.
• Experience developing SOPs, improving processes and delivering practical continuous improvement.
• Good understanding of manufacturing equipment, maintenance and operational reliability.
• Confident working across functions, challenging ways of working and influencing / training teams and managers.
• A practical, hands on approach with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

• Income Protection
• Group Life Assurance
• Enhanced Workplace Pension
• Cycle to Work Scheme
