Open Application (Senior Software Engineering Roles)

About Six Robotics

At Six Robotics, we build intelligent software that gives Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) the ability to collaborate, adapt in real time, and execute missions that were previously impossible. From our base in Oslo, our 90+ experts in defence, software, and AI develop our flagship autonomy and swarm platform used by both government and industry.

In close partnership with the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI), we move quickly from concept to real-world deployment, often working directly alongside end users in the field. Our work sits at the intersection of advanced hardware, complex software systems, and demanding operational environments.

We value clarity, integrity, and teamwork. Everyone is close to the action, and every contribution matters.

Why Engineers Choose Six Robotics

Rather than defining rigid roles, we start from the problems we need to solve and shape roles around people who can take responsibility and drive impact.

Engineers join Six Robotics because:

• The systems we build are deployed in the real world and trusted in critical operations

• Software interacts directly with hardware, autonomy, and physical constraints

• Decisions matter, and technical judgment has real consequences

• Engineers are trusted with ownership, responsibility, and autonomy

• The environment is fast-moving, demanding, and deeply collaborative

We hire selectively. You will be challenged every day, but you will also work with some of the strongest engineers and researchers in the field.

This Open Application

This is an open application for senior software engineers who are motivated by what we build, even if a specific role is not currently advertised.

We continuously look for experienced engineers with strong backgrounds in Python, C++, Rust, or others, who enjoy working on complex, real-world systems where reliability, performance, and adaptability are essential.

Rather than hiring for a predefined task list, we look for people who can strengthen our core engineering capability and grow with the platform over time.

The Kinds of Problems We Work On

Depending on your experience and interests, engineers at Six Robotics contribute to areas such as:

• Autonomy, control, and decision-making systems

• Distributed and real-time systems

• Simulation environments, tooling, and test infrastructure

• Performance-critical components in Rust or C++

• Python-based services, tooling, and ML-adjacent workflows

• System integration across software, hardware, and field deployments

These are not separate roles. Most engineers work across multiple areas, depending on the needs of the system and the mission.

What Tends to Work Well Here

We look for senior engineers who are comfortable when responsibility is high and problems are non-trivial.

You likely bring:

• 5+ years of experience building robust, production-grade software

• Strong skills in Rust OR C++ OR Python

• Experience with complex systems, distributed architectures, or performance-critical code

• The ability to reason about trade-offs between reliability, performance, and maintainability

• Robust engineering defaults and a high bar for code quality

• Curiosity about autonomy, robotics, AI, or software that operates in the physical world

Prior UAV or defence experience is not required, but motivation to work on systems that truly matter is essential.

What You Gain by Joining

At Six Robotics, we're not just building software - we're redefining how unmanned systems operate in the real world. If you're driven by meaningful problems, technical depth, and the chance to shape something from the ground up, you'll find your place here.

• Work on problems that matter
Our technology helps unlock smarter, safer, and more adaptable UAV operations in defense and industry, solving real challenges with direct, tangible impact.

• Lead the shift in a hardware-dominated space
We're bringing modern AI, autonomy, and scalable software into a field that's long relied on rigid, pre-programmed systems to change how UAVs are designed, deployed, and managed.

• Build from zero, shape the future
Join early and help define the core systems, tools, and culture of a company that’s still being built - where your ideas, code, and decisions will have a lasting influence.

• Work with purpose, supported by great benefits
You'll be part of a mission-driven team that values clarity, integrity, and collaboration, offering competitive pay, equity potential, strong insurance and pension plans, and ongoing learning opportunities.

If this resonates with you, we encourage you to submit an open application. Please include your CV and any relevant links to projects, GitHub repositories, or work you are proud of. We also appreciate a short note on the types of problems you are most excited to work on.

Security Clearance Requirement

All employees at Six Robotics are required to undergo a security clearance due to our close collaboration with the Norwegian Armed Forces. While prior clearance is not necessary, the clearance process will be initiated as part of onboarding.
