Lanrex is hiring a Network Systems Administrator for its Managed Services team in Macquarie Park to provide second/third-level support for client environments — Windows Server, Microsoft 365/Azure, Active Directory, virtualisation (VMware, Citrix, Hyper-V), firewalls and VPNs — combining incident resolution with proactive maintenance, documentation and project delivery.
Are you an experienced systems and network professional who enjoys solving complex technical problems, improving client environments and delivering support that makes a genuine difference?
Lanrex is looking for a capable and customer-focused Network Systems Administrator to join our Managed Services team in Macquarie Park.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can confidently support on-premises and cloud environments, take ownership of escalated technical issues and communicate clearly with clients throughout the resolution process.
You will work across systems, networks, servers, Microsoft cloud services, virtualisation, remote access and vendor technologies. The role combines reactive technical support with proactive maintenance, optimisation, documentation and project delivery.
In this role, you will:
Provide second and third level support across client systems and network infrastructure
Diagnose, own and resolve complex incidents and service requests
Support Microsoft technologies, including Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Exchange, SQL Server and SharePoint
Troubleshoot WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, VPNs, security, virtualisation and remote access environments
Support VMware, Microsoft virtualisation, Remote Desktop and Citrix environments
Perform proactive maintenance, monitoring and optimisation across client environments
Identify recurring issues, root causes and opportunities for automation
Maintain accurate technical documentation, configuration records, ticket notes and knowledge articles
Contribute technical expertise to infrastructure projects, scopes of work and implementation planning
Complete testing, documentation and handover for implemented changes
Keep clients informed through clear, professional and timely communication
Collaborate with internal teams, vendors and telecommunications carriers to progress issues through to resolution
You take ownership of technical issues and work methodically through to resolution or appropriate escalation. You balance urgency with quality, identify root causes rather than relying on quick fixes, and leave client environments more stable and supportable.
You communicate clearly, document your work properly and share your knowledge with others. You understand that great technical support is not only about solving the problem, but also about giving the client confidence throughout the process.
Success in the role means:
Client infrastructure is stable, reliable and maintained with fewer repeat issues
Technical incidents are resolved through structured diagnosis and sound judgement
Clients receive clear updates and understand progress, risks and next steps
Monitoring, maintenance and automation improve service reliability and efficiency
Technical documentation enables consistent support across the team
Project changes are implemented cleanly and transition into support without avoidable rework
You will ideally have:
Demonstrated experience in systems and network administration or infrastructure support
Experience resolving escalated infrastructure issues
Practical deployment and change experience
Strong knowledge of Microsoft server and cloud technologies
Experience with identity and access management, networking, virtualisation, backup and disaster recovery, remote access and infrastructure monitoring
Experience working with PSA, ticketing, RMM and technical documentation platforms
Relevant IT qualifications, certifications or equivalent demonstrated industry experience
A structured and disciplined approach to troubleshooting
Strong written and verbal communication skills
The ability to manage competing priorities and follow work through to completion
A commitment to quality, accountability and positive client outcomes
Experience in an MSP environment and familiarity with technologies such as Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Intune, Hyper-V, VMware, Citrix, Fortinet, ConnectWise, N-central, IT Glue or PowerShell will be highly regarded.
At Lanrex we focus on delivering reliable, practical technology outcomes that support our clients and strengthen their organisations.
You’ll join a collaborative and welcoming team that values accountability, customer focus, continuous learning and doing what we say we will do.
