Motion / 3D Designer

Background

This is an opportunity to help build a new in-house studio from the ground up, working on highly visible creative for a well-known brand at the center of AI and innovation. The team is being assembled now, which means the person in this seat will help define how the work looks and how the studio operates.

The ideal candidate is:

• Craft-obsessed. Holds a high bar on type, composition and finish, and doesn't let speed erode it.
• Hands-on. This is a making role, not an oversight role.
• Genuinely curious about AI. Interested in generative tools as a way to reach ideas that weren't possible before, not as a shortcut.
• Comfortable with pace. Quick-turn pieces and ambitious builds land in the same week, and priorities shift.

This role suits someone who brings ideas into the room rather than waiting for a brief.

About the Role

A motion and 3D designer with a recognisable point of view, whose design fundamentals came first and whose animation is built on top of them. This person works fluidly across motion, 3D and generative AI, moving between a fifteen-second social piece and a fully built 3D world. They understand what makes work land on a feed rather than in a deck, and can carry an idea from rough concept to finished craft quickly without losing what made it good.

What you'll do

• Design and animate motion and 3D content built platform-native from the start, rather than adapted down from campaign assets
• Concept alongside the Creative Director, Art Director, Narrative Writer and Creative Technologist
• Build in After Effects and Cinema 4D, using Houdini for more complex simulation work
• Use generative AI tools as part of your daily process, and learn client-specific tools quickly as they roll out
• Push the studio's visual language forward through experimentation with new formats, aesthetics and workflows
• Hold craft and brand consistency across everything the studio ships, at speed
• Manage multiple priorities and shifting timelines with a test-and-learn mindset

• 5+ years in motion and 3D design, ideally across brand, campaign and social
• A strong portfolio or reel showing a distinct visual point of view, not only range
• Design fundamentals underneath the animation, including type, composition and colour
• Expert command of After Effects and Cinema 4D, with working knowledge of Houdini and Figma Motion
• Hands-on experience with generative AI tools and an appetite to keep learning new ones
• Platform instincts and cultural fluency, with work made for a feed rather than adapted to one
• Comfort working independently or embedded with a multidisciplinary team in a fast, iterative environment
• Clear communication and a bias toward action

Additional notes

Bonus to have:

• Video editing or compositing experience
• Illustration, typography or sound design knowledge
• Self-initiated or experimental work in motion, 3D or AI

A portfolio or reel is required. We'd love to see three or four pieces you'd stand behind, including anything made outside of a client brief.
