Member of Technical Staff: Senior Engineer, Robot Policy Learning
Walden Robotics · Cambridge, MA ·

Position Summary:
You will develop robot policies across the full learning process—from the data they learn from and how observations and actions are represented, to the algorithms used to train them and the evaluations that guide improvement. As a senior individual contributor, you will own substantial policy development efforts end to end, identify what limits performance, and drive improvements across data, modeling, and training. You will work closely with robotics, data, and infrastructure engineers to turn experiments into more capable and reliable robot behavior.
Required Qualifications:
- Deep hands-on experience developing and training deep-learning models, with strong software engineering fundamentals in a modern ML framework.
- Experience working across multiple parts of the learning process, such as data preparation, representations, model architecture, training objectives, and evaluation.
- A track record of independently driving open-ended model development efforts to measurable results.
- Strong experimental judgment and the ability to diagnose model behavior using data, metrics, and systematic investigation.
- Experience collaborating across technical disciplines, mentoring engineers, and raising engineering standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with robot learning, imitation learning, reinforcement learning, or vision-language-action models.
- Experience with multimodal or sequential data, action representations, or learning across heterogeneous datasets.
- Experience with data curation, curriculum design, or evaluation of learned policies.
- Experience with distributed or large-scale training.
- Contributions to deployed learning systems, influential models, papers, or open-source training tools.
