About the role
You will own the accuracy and integrity of item master data in the Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) system. You will create and maintain item codes and descriptions, apply consistent standards, and ensure clean data flows through to purchasing, inventory, and finance. Your work directly supports spend visibility, procurement efficiency, and accurate reporting.
Key responsibilities
- Create, update, and deactivate item codes in the P2P system in line with established coding standards and naming conventions
- Write and maintain clear, consistent, standardized item descriptions and attributes
- Review and validate item creation requests from requesters and buyers; reject or clarify incomplete or duplicate requests
- Run regular data quality checks to find and resolve duplicates, inconsistencies, obsolete items, and incorrect classifications
- Assign items to the correct category, unit of measure, and account/cost classification, in coordination with Finance
- Maintain and improve item coding guidelines, data governance procedures, and work instructions
- Produce data quality reports and KPIs (e.g., request turnaround time, duplicate rate, error rate)
- Coordinate with Procurement, Finance, Warehouse/Inventory, and IT on data-related issues, system changes, and clean-up projects
- Support data migration, system upgrades, and mass-upload activities as needed
- Keep audit trails and documentation to support internal and external audits
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field
- 2–4 years of experience in Master Data Management, preferably in Procurement and/or Finance
- Hands-on experience with an ERP or P2P system (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Coupa, Ariba, or other)
- Strong working knowledge of Excel (lookups, pivot tables, data cleansing)
- Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Analytical and methodical, with a habit of double-checking work
- Ownership of data quality and process discipline
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and manage competing requests
- Comfort with repetitive, detail-heavy work and with continuously improving it.
