Company

Pie Systems is building a digital platform to grow and transform global tourism, beginning with the $70B+ tax-free shopping industry. Our mission — Empowering local partners, globally. Delighting global tourists, locally. — guides us as we connect tourists and local businesses through data, analytics, and marketing. The Pie VAT app makes travel shopping effortless for tourists and offers retailers a free, digital tax-free solution.

We are a global, VC-backed startup operating across the US, Europe, and Asia, with hubs in Tokyo, San Francisco, and Copenhagen. Our rapidly growing team works at the intersection of fintech, retail, and travel, partnering with leading global brands.

Why Pie Systems

Japan is currently one of the fastest-growing markets globally, and a strategic focus area for the entire company. Our next phase of global expansion will be centered around Japan, and this role will sit at the heart of that transformation — working alongside our Marketing Head to own both the planning and execution of key initiatives.

What You'll Do

1. Creative & Content Direction

- Plan and direct content across a wide range of formats — images,　video, articles, landing pages

- You don't need to produce the content yourself, but you'll decide the right format and tone for each objective, brief designers and creators (internal or freelance), and iterate on feedback to ensure quality

- Maintain brand consistency while continuously optimizing content for each channel

2. PR & On-the-Ground Initiatives

- Build relationships with media, influencers, and industry contacts

- Plan and set up PR opportunities — press events, industry events, and similar occasions

- Plan and produce case studies featuring partner companies

- Handle press announcements as needed

3. Integrated B2B×B2C Campaign Planning & Execution

- Pie's business requires reaching both tourists (B2C) and merchant partners (B2B)

- Independently plan and execute B2C brand awareness through social and digital channels, alongside B2B communication for merchant acquisition (pitch materials, sales-support activities)

- Manage multiple campaigns across multiple channels and formats simultaneously, and see them through to completion

4. Business-Minded Use of Data

- Advanced statistical analysis or dashboard-building skills are not required, but you should be able to read the numbers behind your own campaigns and channels with real business judgment, and translate that into next steps or investment decisions

- Beyond "it felt like it worked" — you understand the business meaning behind the data and can proactively engage in discussions about improvements and budget allocation

- Broader strategy and deeper analysis will be led in partnership with the Marketing Head

5. Cross-Team Collaboration

- Work closely with the Marketing Head, global teams, and Japan leadership

- Participate in weekly global meetings and cross-functional projects conducted in English

Who You Are

- Someone who can plan as well as execute. Rather than waiting for direction, you understand the business and brand objectives well enough to figure out what needs to be said and how to say it

- Agency background (creative, PR, or integrated campaigns), having owned planning through execution in a planner or producer-type role

- Comfortable building things from scratch and juggling multiple workstreams in a fast-moving environment

- Your strength is planning ability and business judgment applied to reliably turning ideas into results — more than high-level strategic design or statistical analysis

- A senior, execution-focused operator with broad experience (people management experience not required, but a plus)

Requirements

- Experience planning and directing content across multiple formats — images, video, articles, landing pages

- Hands-on PR, event, and media relations experience

- Experience independently planning and executing both B2B and B2C marketing initiatives

- Working-level data fluency — able to read your own campaigns' performance with business judgment and translate that into action

- Native-level Japanese, business-level English (weekly/biweekly global meetings, regular written communication, English-language documentation)

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field

- Experience in Fintech, Travel, or Retail industries is a plus
