They serve as the go-to construction safety subject matter expert—interpreting Ford and OSHA requirements, conducting on-site contractor safety audits, sitting on standards and review committees (like the Technical Review Committee and National Joint Committee on Health and Safety), and owning key specifications like the 01100 Global Construction Safety Specification. A major part of the job involves data and reporting duties, including tracking incidents through GERT/OHSIM, ensuring contractor 8D reports are completed, and compiling/presenting weekly, monthly, and quarterly safety metrics for various leadership audiences. The role also has significant coordination responsibilities, from running the NA Construction Safety Council and annual contractor summit to supporting UAW-Ford negotiations and conferences. Finally, it requires specialized risk oversight for high-hazard construction activities such as demolition, roofing, steel erection, crane operations, hazardous material handling (ACM, silica, lead), and other elevated-risk tasks, ensuring contractor safety plans and practices meet rigorous standards before and during execution.
