Machine Design Engineer

You will support machine-design activities for gas centrifuge isotope separation systems. You will design rotating equipment, fixtures, tooling, vacuum interfaces, drawings, and bills of materials; perform tolerance analyses; support design reviews; and incorporate manufacturing feedback into drawing revisions.

Responsibilities

• Support gas centrifuge isotope separation design activities
• Design components and subassemblies for high-speed rotating equipment
• Progress new designs through testing toward volume production
• Design containment boundary joints for high and ultra-high vacuum systems
• Design fixtures and tooling for fabrication, inspection, testing, and assembly
• Deliver drawings and bills of materials using configuration management practices
• Use SolidWorks 3D CAD and SolidWorks PDM
• Perform tolerance stack-up and error-budget analyses
• Support design reviews and resolve review comments
• Specify materials conforming to national standards
• Incorporate non-conformances and manufacturing feedback into drawing revisions

Requirements

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3+ years of relevant experience
• Machine design experience
• SolidWorks 3D CAD experience
• Active DOE Q Clearance
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE clearance
• Pass a pre-placement drug test and participate in ongoing random drug testing
