Winpak Lane is seeking a Machine Controls Programmer to support the Electrical Engineering Department. In this role, you will work with programmers and control engineers to develop programmable logic controller (PLC) and human-machine interface (HMI) applications for high-speed servo motion control packaging machinery. You will commission, program, debug, and support the software and hardware used in automated motion control systems to help deliver efficient and reliable packaging equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and supporting PLC, safety PLC, and HMI programs for packaging machinery.
- Integrate specialized hardware and software into manufacturing systems to enhance automation, control, and efficiency.
- Commission, load, configure, debug, and support software and hardware for automated control systems.
- Prepare functional descriptions of process controls and assist engineering teams with machine and control development.
- Assist customers and coworkers with electrical and programming issues, providing electrical engineering support both on-site and off-site.
- Perform field installation work at customer facilities as assigned.
- Investigate equipment failures, diagnose faulty operation, and recommend corrective actions to service technicians.
- Use computer-assisted engineering design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks and assist with specifications for purchasing electrical components.
- Inspect completed installations and observe their operation to verify conformance with design and equipment specifications and operational and safety standards.
- Follow company policies, safety rules, and safe work practices on-site, while traveling, and at customer locations; represent Winpak professionally and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Programming.
- Three or more years of experience programming industrial automated equipment.
- Related experience in electrical engineering or programming.
- Working knowledge of Rexroth motion control.
- Understanding of motion automation concepts, practices, and procedures and standard communication protocols, including EtherNet/IP, Sercos, EtherCAT, and Powerlink.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of applicable electrical standards, codes, and safety practices, including Underwriters Laboratories (UL), the National Electrical Code (NEC), European conformity (CE) requirements, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 79, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.

- This role supports the Electrical Engineering Department.
- Travel to customer facilities may be required, up to 30% of the time.
Compensation Range
Annual salary range: $90,000.00 to $105,000.00, based on experience.
The compensation range provided is a general guideline only. Pay will be determined based on the candidate's experience and expertise and is subject to vary.
