Logistics Process Engineer

Logistics Process Engineer

Combining all parts of logistics into a smart network of warehouses and carriers

Are you eager to improve our logistics through IT innovation? Ensuring that with your data driven mindset we maximize the value of our logistic network for our shoppers and partners? Moreover, are you the one that ceases the opportunity and brings it to the finish line in a rapidly evolving environment? Then the role of Logistics Process Engineer is the one for you.

How do you make our customers happy?

When our customers receive their package at the time we promised them, at the place they indicated and with the products they ordered, we did a good job. When our customers decide to return a package, we make their experience smooth, while retaining as much value as possible. And, with 13M customers who can choose from over 32M products sourced by 51K partners and delivered from multiple warehouses and via multiple carriers, that’s a tall order. Our goal is to optimally serve our customers in a cost-efficient way, through data-driven insights and intelligent steering of bol's logistics network. It calls for leveraging advanced data science models and complex software applications. Moreover, we need to balance goals, from reducing costs to improving the customer experience and advancing our sustainability ambitions. Your role is to ensure our innovations work as advertised in our complex logistics network.

What do you do as a Logistics Process Engineer?

Together with your product team, you explore problems and identify opportunities. Some of which may seem obvious, others not so much. You help the team decide which topics to focus on and translate theoretical solutions into ‘workable’ products by using your data and analytical capabilities. You collaborate with experts, including developers who build the solution, and you drive the implementation. How can you best bring these projects across the finish line? And how can you maximize their value for bol, our customers, and partners?

This position challenges your analytical skills: crunch complex puzzles and connect the right people and ideas. Design reliable, scalable, and future-proof processes and IT solutions, and leverage your powers of persuasion and communication to identify relevant internal and external stakeholders, get them on board, and keep them engaged. And flex your project management skills by determining the right approach and managing progress in a complex environment.

• You are enthusiastic about data-heavy IT innovations
• You have an analytical mindset, dive deep into topics, and translate data into actionable insights
• You assess the impact of changes on the broader logistics network
• You manage complex projects from initial conception to final implementation
• You focus on outcome over output and inspire others to adopt that approach
• You engage with a broad range of stakeholders; getting (and keeping) them on board is often the key to success
• You contribute to the Logistics Process Engineering craft by supporting the development of a standardized way of working, sharing your knowledge and experience, and onboarding new colleagues

3 reasons why this is(n’t) for you

• Complexity is your best buddy

You are energized by complex challenges in which technology, processes, and the physical world meet. You can complete complex projects with your analytical skills from scratch, including alignment with team members and stakeholders.

• True team player

You know you can’t do it alone. You're a great listener, easily connect with others, get your message across clearly, and are energized by working with enthusiastic colleagues and external parties.

• Keep It Simple, Stupid!

Keep It Simple, Stupid is one of your mantras: you expertly identify potential process bottlenecks and excel at solving problems.

• Me, myself, and I

You value personal success over team results.

• You are from Mars, software engineers are from Venus

You can come up with absolutely brilliant theoretical solutions but have a hard time explaining them to the IT team. You seem to operate on different wavelengths.

• All decisions are final

Once a decision is made, it is made. Changing circumstances and evolving insights be damned, you’re not budging.
