Most legal roles are built around saying no. This one is built around making things move.
Datamaran is the AI-powered governance platform for enterprise. Since 2014 we have turned regulatory, stakeholder and market signals into decisions that leadership teams can stand behind, for organizations like Bridgestone, Dell, Cisco, Kraft Heinz and PepsiCo.
We are looking for a Legal & Contract Officer in the Netherlands. You are the first legal point of contact inside the company: the contracts that need to be signed, the privacy questions that need an answer today, and the odd request that lands somewhere between legal and operations. External counsel sits behind you for the specialist work, so you are never the last line on your own. This is a role built for someone early in their legal career who wants to own something real, and it grows as we grow.
In this role, you will:
The mission. Governance is where the pressure sits right now: regulation, stakeholders, markets, technology. We give leadership teams a defensible view of all of it, and we have been building that expertise since 2014, well before it had a name.
The room to grow. Twelve years old with scale-up energy. This role starts with contracts and privacy and widens as the company does. You will not be waiting for someone to hand you scope.
The people around you. You report to JP Lecourt, our COO, and work closely with our Company Secretary. No long approval chains, and the C-suite here is genuinely reachable.
The reward. A base salary of 60,000 to 74,000 euros per year, depending on experience.
The flexibility. One day a week in our Leeuwarden office. The rest of the week is yours.

This is a role built for someone early in their legal career who wants to own something real, and it grows as we grow.
In this role, you will:
- Draft, review and negotiate the contracts that keep the business moving: customer agreements, DPAs, NDAs, renewals and supplier contracts, with external counsel for the heavy lifting
- Own data protection day to day as our Data Privacy Champion, from answering GDPR questions to keeping our records straight
- Put AI to work in legal: build prompts, test tools, automate what can be automated, and show the rest of the company what is possible
- Triage everything legal that comes in, from trademark questions to a supplier clause that does not sit right, and decide what you solve and what goes out
- Bring at least a year of hands-on experience with commercial contracts, in-house, at a firm or in legal operations (internships and traineeships do not count)
- Hold a law degree, WO or HBO
- Already use AI in your work and want to go further. You prompt, you experiment, and you would rather build the tooling than wait for it. This is the part we care about most
- Have practical GDPR and data protection experience, or you are ready to make privacy your territory
- Are willing to learn English contract law. Most of our contracts are governed by it, and you do not need that background today. You get playbooks, external counsel and AI to get there fast
- Give clear answers in plain language, and know the difference between what you can solve yourself and what needs a specialist
- Live in the Netherlands with a permanent right to work here (we do not sponsor work permits, now or later), are happy to be in our Leeuwarden office one day a week, and speak and write fluent, business-level English. The north of the country is a plus
