The position manages a broad portfolio of business-as-usual and project work, with particular focus on commercial contracting, consumer and privacy matters, intellectual property, event and athlete-related issues, legal operations and regional risk management. This is a hands-on mid-level role suited to a lawyer who can manage competing priorities autonomously, build trusted stakeholder relationships and escalate appropriately.

- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including sponsorship and partnership agreements, event services and supplier agreements, government and host funding arrangements, event licence agreements, leases, technology and platform arrangements, employment agreements, media and broadcast agreements, ambassador agreements and other operational contracts.
- Support contracting and legal issues for major mass-participation events and endurance sport brands, including IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 triathlons, road running events and trail running events.
- Advise on consumer law issues, including athlete terms and conditions and escalated customer complaints or regulatory matters; prepare and review customer-facing responses where matters are escalated.
- Advise on privacy and data protection matters across the region, including customer data handling, marketing consent, CRM and registration processes, sensitive information, data incidents, privacy policy updates, data retention and new technology or AI-enabled tools.
- Manage and support regional intellectual property matters, including trade mark applications and portfolio reviews, brand-use guidance, infringement issues, social media and digital brand use, and liaison with global trade mark counsel and local external advisers.
- Provide or coordinate external legal support for Asia-focused projects where required, including event licensing, office and property matters, and local regulatory issues in markets such as Malaysia.
- Advise on practical workforce and employment matters arising from event operations, in coordination with the People and Workforce teams and external specialists where needed.
- Support corporate and M&A work, including due diligence coordination and the preparation or maintenance of transaction templates and completion materials, with escalation as appropriate.
- Develop, improve and maintain legal templates, standard form agreements, guidance materials, policies, playbooks and precedent resources to improve consistency and enable appropriate business self-service.
- Build and maintain legal workflows and matter-management processes, including (where possible) automation and workflow development, and any practical improvements to intake, review, approval and record-keeping processes.
- Support corporate governance and entity-management activities, coordinate local filings and advisers, and assist with onboarding and administration of external legal suppliers.
- Collaborate with the global Legal, Privacy, Compliance and Trademarks teams on matters that cross regions or require global alignment.
- Provide clear legal training and guidance to business stakeholders and contribute to a strong culture of compliance, early risk identification and practical escalation.
