A hands-on Lead Software Engineer (~50% coding) who drives a regulated financial platform to production launch, owning payments, ledger accuracy, settlement, and reconciliation in Java/Spring Boot, while also leading architecture reviews, CI/CD and testing practices, and mentoring engineers.
We are seeking a highly experienced, hands-on Lead Software Engineer to help drive a regulated financial platform into production.
This role combines technical leadership, hands-on development, production readiness, and release ownership. Approximately 50% of the role will remain focused on coding and code reviews, so we are looking for someone who is still deeply technical.
Lead the technical readiness and production launch of a financial platform.
Write, review, and improve production-grade Java/Spring code.
Own critical areas including payments, ledger accuracy, settlement, reconciliation, and transaction reliability.
Drive technical reviews, architecture discussions, testing, and code quality standards.
Implement strong engineering practices around idempotency, concurrency, data consistency, and financial correctness.
Establish release gates and provide evidence-based go/no-go recommendations.
Improve automated testing, CI/CD, observability, and production reliability.
Mentor engineers and promote strong engineering standards across the team.
Collaborate with compliance, risk, audit, product, and business stakeholders.
Identify technical risks early and drive them through resolution.
5+ years of software engineering experience.
2+ years in a technical leadership role while remaining hands-on with development.
Strong hands-on expertise with Java and Spring/Spring Boot or closely comparable backend technologies.
Proven experience building, launching, or operating systems that move money or handle regulated data.
Strong understanding of SQL, database transactions, locking, isolation levels, and data consistency.
Experience with engineering best practices, automated testing, CI/CD, and production releases.
Strong technical leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills.
Ability to balance delivery timelines with system reliability, security, and technical risk.
