Driven by the passion to improve quality of people’s lives, WSA continues to grow as market leader in the hearing aid industry. With our commitment to increase penetration in an underserved hearing care market, we want to accelerate our business transformation in order to reach more people, more effectively.
We are looking for a Lead Platform Engineer who is passionate about cloud-native technologies, platform engineering, and developer experience. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, leading through technical expertise, and wants to grow toward a future Architect or Principal Engineer career path.
You will help evolve our Kubernetes-based platform, influence technical direction, and work closely with experienced architects and engineers to build the foundation for the next generation of digital products at WSA.
If you enjoy understanding how systems fit together, like influencing technical direction, and want to grow into broader technical leadership, we'd love to talk.
Design, build, and operate cloud-native platform capabilities that improve reliability, scalability, and developer productivity
Help evolve our Kubernetes-based Internal Developer Platform (IDP), making it easier for teams to build and deliver software
Contribute to architectural decisions and technical roadmaps while developing your own architecture skills
Explore and industrialize emerging platform capabilities for AI and agentic workloads, including AI gateways, agent runtimes, governance controls, observability, and developer self-service experiences
Evaluate and prototype cloud-native technologies from the CNCF ecosystem such as observability, GitOps, service mesh, developer tooling, and platform automation
Collaborate with development teams to improve developer experience and create a smooth software delivery journey
Drive improvements in Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and operational excellence
Help establish engineering best practices and contribute to technical standards through design discussions and Architecture Decision Records (ADRs)
Work closely with platform architects, security engineers, and operations teams to build resilient and compliant cloud environments
Share knowledge with colleagues through workshops, technical guidance, and day-to-day collaboration
Approximately 8-10 years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, or related fields
Solid hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production environments
Experience building or operating cloud-native platforms, infrastructure, or SaaS solutions
Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and infrastructure automation
Experience with CI/CD, GitOps, and Infrastructure as Code technologies such as OpenTofu, Pulumi, Bicep, Terraform, or similar tools
Interest in platform engineering concepts and modern cloud-native practices
Curiosity about architecture and a desire to broaden your technical influence over time.
We are looking for engineers with strong technical foundations, a systems-thinking mindset, and the ambition to expand their impact beyond individual projects.
If you've ever found yourself asking questions like "How should this platform evolve?", "How do these systems fit together?", or "How can we make life easier for other engineers?", you're likely the kind of person we're looking for.
Personal competencies
Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for engineering excellence
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively
Enjoy collaborating with engineers across multiple teams
Comfortable balancing hands-on implementation with longer-term thinking
Curious, open-minded, and eager to learn new technologies
Proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement and driving them forward
Passionate about creating great developer experiences and scalable engineering platforms
Why join us?
The team you will join sits at the heart of WSA’s digital engineering ecosystem, building and operating the platforms that enable teams across the company to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable software.
We own the cloud foundations that support WSA’s technology landscape, providing the core infrastructure, automation, governance, and platform capabilities used by engineering teams across the organization. In addition, we are responsible for the infrastructure and software delivery capabilities that power a global medical SaaS solution serving healthcare professionals and customers around the world.
Beyond infrastructure, the team develops and operates a growing portfolio of internal platform products designed to improve developer productivity and accelerate software delivery. These include our source-to-deployment automation platform, developer portal, namespaces-as-a-service capabilities, and other self-service tools that help engineering teams build, deploy, and operate applications efficiently and securely.
This is a unique opportunity to work across multiple layers of the technology stack: from cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes platforms to developer experience, software delivery, platform products, and globally distributed healthcare solutions.
You will work alongside experienced platform engineers and architects while expanding your own technical leadership and architectural thinking. We believe the best technical leaders stay close to the technology, understand the realities engineers face, and lead through a combination of expertise, collaboration, and execution.
At WSA, you will have the freedom to explore new ideas, improve the platforms that power our engineering organization, and make a tangible impact on how software is built and operated across the company. With that freedom comes trust, ownership, and the opportunity to contribute to products and platforms that support millions of people worldwide.
At WSA, we provide innovative hearing aids and hearing health services.
Together with our 12,000 colleagues in 130 countries, we invite you to help unlock human potential by bringing back hearing for millions of people around the world.
With us, you will become part of a truly global company where we care for one another, welcome diversity and celebrate our successes.
Sounds wonderful? We can't wait to hear from you.
