Spencer Rose is seeking a hands-on Lead Java Developer for a 6-12 month contract on a cloud-native transformation programme at a Tier 1 banking client in Edinburgh (hybrid, 2 days in office). Core stack: Java 8/11/17, Spring Boot microservices, React/TypeScript, Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD, Kafka and SQL/NoSQL databases.

Spencer Rose is urgently seeking a Lead Java Developer to work on an exciting transformation programme for our Tier1 banking client working on modern, cloud-native applications and microservices. Based in Edinburgh.

Start: ASAP
Duration: 6-12 months (with possible extensions)
Rate: £#removed#pd all inclusive
Location: Edinburgh - hybrid - 2 days a week in the office

Key skills:

Strong Java (8/11/17+) development experience with enterprise applications

Spring Boot, REST APIs, JPA/Hibernate and microservices architecture

React.js, JavaScript & TypeScript with modern Front End development practices

Docker & Kubernetes and CI/CD using Jenkins, Git/GitHub

Strong automated testing experience with JUnit, Mockito, Jest, React Testing Library and Playwright

Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL and MongoDB

Performance tuning, profiling and application optimisation

Security principles including JWT, OWASP and Zero Trust

Experience with Kafka/event-driven architecture and cloud-native development

Strong code review, pair programming and TDD/shift-left mindset

Desirable:

GCP, Node.js, Dynatrace/Splunk and banking/financial services experience.

What we're looking for:

A hands-on technical leader who can drive engineering best practices, mentor developers and work collaboratively with stakeholders in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
