Lead Graphic Designer

About ActAI

There are over 5 billion users using basic applications today such email, notes, tasks, calendar and they're not AI-native. Our mission is to build proactive applications for anyone in the world, who are not used to complex prompting. We aim to bring intelligence to conversations, errands, organising and workflows, with minimal prompting.

Our product focuses on achieving high reliability for long-running workflows, persistent context, and real-world task completion. We believe products will greatly reduce hallucinations

Our objective is to organise anyone's life, allowing us all to spend time on valuable and meaningful things

Role

You will shape the visual language of A1's product. In AI applications, visual design must do more than look polished. It must help users understand dynamic content, system behavior, reliability signals, and complex AI-driven workflows.

This role supports HCI by making the interface clearer, more readable, and easier to trust.

What You'll Be Doing

• Design the visual language, design system, and UI components for A1's product across web and mobile.

• Create visual patterns that help users parse AI-generated content, distinguish system states, and understand confidence and reliability signals.

• Design for information density and hierarchy in AI interfaces where content is dynamic, variable, and often uncertain.

• Work with product and UX designers to translate interaction flows into polished, accessible visual designs.

• Build and maintain a design system that supports speed, consistency, and clarity.

• Define visual standards for error states, empty states, loading states, task states, and AI-generated output.

• Contribute visual assets and design specs that engineers can implement accurately.

• Make AI-heavy interfaces feel clear and structured without overwhelming users.

What You Will Need

• Experience as a visual or UI designer with a portfolio across web or mobile products.

• Strong skills in typography, color, layout, and visual hierarchy.

• Proficiency in Figma and experience building or contributing to design systems.

• Ability to design for dynamic content where AI output varies in length, format, tone, and reliability.

• Understanding of accessibility standards and how to design for legibility and contrast.

• Comfort designing under ambiguity, with evolving product requirements.

• Experience working closely with product and UX designers in fast-moving teams.

• Awareness of how visual cues communicate AI system behavior, trust, and confidence.

How We Work

The best products today in the world were built by small, world class teams. We are a high talent density and hands-on team. We make decisions collectively, move at rapid speed, striking a balance between shipping high quality work and learning. Joining our team requires the ability to bring structure, exercise judgment, and execute independently. Our goal is to put in hands of our users a truly magical product

Interview process

For design roles, we expect candidates to submit a portfolio as part of the application process.

If there appears to be a fit, we'll reach out to schedule 2 rounds of interviews and a design assessment.

Applications are evaluated by our team members. Interviews will be conducted via virtual meetings and/or onsite.

We value transparency and efficiency, so expect a prompt decision. If you've demonstrated the exceptional skills and mindset we're looking for, we'll extend an offer to join us. This isn't just a job offer; it's an invitation to be part of a team that's bringing AI to have practical benefits to billions globally.
