Overview

As Lead Data Engineer in a fast-growing AI SaaS company, you shape and scale the Data Engineering function while staying hands-on with core technology. You’ll build scalable data platforms, establish engineering standards, and mentor a team as the role evolves toward broader Data Engineering leadership. You’ll collaborate with AI engineers to productionise ML solutions and explore AI-driven productivity improvements. This is a hands-on leadership position with impact on product quality, delivery, and engineering culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and grow a team of Data Engineers
• Design and build scalable data pipelines and cloud-based platforms
• Develop robust ETL and ELT solutions with Python and SQL
• Define engineering standards, data models and best practices
• Drive CI/CD, automation and modern engineering practices
• Collaborate with AI engineers to productionise ML/AI solutions
• Explore AI-enabled enhancements for engineering productivity and delivery

Key requirements

• Strong experience with Python and SQL
• Expertise building modern data platforms on Azure, AWS or GCP
• Strong ETL/ELT engineering experience
• Data modelling and data warehousing expertise
• CI/CD, Git and engineering best practices
• Previous experience leading, mentoring or developing engineers
