1 Junior Scientists (f/m/d) for 6G Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC) - JOB ID: 269373 * You will develop and validate numerical signal processing algorithms for mobile 5G/6G ISAC scenarios using simulations and measurements from an SDR testbed combining RF, fiber optic, and quantum sensing.
* Depending on your background, you will conduct algorithm research and contribute to real-time experiments using SDR hardware and reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS).
* Together with experienced colleagues, you will engage in establishing a unique 6G distributed MIMO sensing testbed based on SDR technology using open-source tools such as GNU Radio, RFNoC and LabVIEW for real-time FPGA algorithm design operating from 0.4 - 20 GHz.
* You will learn how to evaluate the results and prepare them for further studies.
* You will publish your research results in international journals and present them at conferences.
* You will accumulate experience in a research field, that has an enormous range of applications from construction, logistics, aviation and railways to agriculture, robotics and defense.
* You will gain experience in a group of international scientists and build up your professional network within European wide research projects.
Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:
* Completed technical studies (at least MSc.) related to Telecommunications, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
* First experience in at least one of the following areas: (i) multi-static MIMO UAV sensing, (ii) quantum sensing with NV centers and Rydberg cells, (iii) multimodal sensing with fiber optic and distributed RF sensors, or (iv) ISAC using reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) and two-way ranging. Candidates should indicate in their cover letter how their background and interests align with one of these profiles (i-iv) and provide evidence of relevant expertise. Applications not addressing this point may not be considered.
* Hands-on experience in radio frequency (RF) lab experimentation and printed circuit board design for the profiles listed above.
* Excellent knowledge in the field of signal processing, RF propagation modeling, AI/ML and numerical simulation software development (MATLAB or Python)
* Sound knowledge of electromagnetic field simulation tools, antenna design, and real-time FPGA programming.
* Interest in reading and writing scientific publications and enjoyment of solving application-oriented questions from industry
* High level of commitment and ability to work in a team
* German and English skills commensurate with the role
What to expect:
* The minimum gross annual salary on a full-time basis (38,5 h / week) according to the collective agreement is EUR 56.784,--. The actual salary will be determined individually, based on your qualifications and experience.
* Our employee benefits include meal allowances, healthcare benefits, pension support, family benefits, additional days off, vouchers, sports and cultural activities, and flexible working models including up to 50% home office. We also support conference participation, networking, and individual training and career development opportunities.
We encourage our Junior Scientist (f/m/d) to pursue a doctoral degree at TU Wien.
Through the AIT-PhD programme with renowned universities, you will have the opportunity to conduct your PhD thesis in collaboration with AIT experts and national and international research partners.
At AIT, we foster an inclusive and family-friendly work environment that promotes equal opportunities and values diversity across all levels of the organisation. Among other initiatives, we are committed to increasing the proportion of women in our company and therefore particularly welcome applications from female applicants.
Please submit your complete application documents online, consisting of your CV, a cover letter, relevant certificates (transcript of records), as well as a proof of identity....
