About the Role
A construction, design and architectural company is seeking a self-driven and articulate Junior Accountant to provide financial and management accounting support. Candidates with construction industry experience and those residing within Ikeja are preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain general ledger entries, bookkeeping and account reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, including Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports.
- Monitor company bank accounts and resolve banking discrepancies.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, audits and tax/regulatory submissions.
- Manage project budgets, cost codes, receivables and payables.
- Apply construction accounting standards and procedures.
- Set up jobs, budgets, subcontracts and change orders in accounting software.
- Work with Project Managers, vendors and subcontractors to ensure timely billing and payments.
- Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end closing.
- Review payables, bank reconciliations and account analyses.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of internal financial controls.
- Provide accurate financial information and recommendations to management.
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years’ accounting experience.
- Experience in the construction industry is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, financial reporting and reconciliations.
- Good understanding of construction accounting processes.
- Strong analytical, communication and organizational skills.
- Candidates residing within Ikeja are preferred.
