Java Developer

We are looking for an experienced Analyst Programmer to join our Hong Kong-based technology client. The successful candidate will be responsible for system analysis and backend development, working closely with the Hong Kong-based team on a large-scale and highly sensitive project. This role will involve regular communication with the client's Hong Kong HQ and stakeholders, so Cantonese-speaking ability is a must-have. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently while collaborating with teams across Malaysia and Hong Kong.

Key responsibilities

Analyse business and system requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.

Design, develop, enhance, and maintain backend applications using Java.

Work with Redis and relational databases to support application performance and scalability.

Develop and optimise SQL queries and database solutions.

Participate in system design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and implementation.

Work within a DevSecOps environment and follow secure software development practices.

Collaborate with developers, system analysts, project stakeholders, and the Hong Kong-based team.

Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, discussions, and delivery.

Troubleshoot technical issues and perform root-cause analysis.

Communicate regularly with Hong Kong HQ and clients to clarify requirements and provide technical updates.

About you

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.

3–8 years of experience in system analysis and backend development.

Strong proficiency in Java.

Hands-on experience with Redis.

Experience working in a DevSecOps or DevOps environment.

Strong knowledge of RDBMS and SQL, with experience in one or more of the following: Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server.

Strong understanding of SQL optimisation and database performance.

Cantonese-speaking ability is mandatory due to regular communication with Hong Kong HQ and clients.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Ability to work independently as well as effectively within an Agile team.
