Japanese-speaking Technical Project Manager

About the Role

We are looking for a Japanese-speaking Technical Project Manager to coordinate software integration projects and act as a key link between business stakeholders, clients, and engineering teams.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strong project management skills with a practical technical understanding of software systems, APIs, and authentication mechanisms. You will help drive project delivery, facilitate communication across international teams, and independently investigate technical issues before escalating them to Engineering.

As our projects involve collaboration with teams and stakeholders in Japan, you will need to work during Japanese business hours or maintain significant overlap with the Japan time zone.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage technical implementation and software integration projects

• Act as the primary point of contact between clients, business stakeholders, and engineering teams

• Track project timelines, deliverables, dependencies, and risks

• Facilitate requirements gathering, project planning, and status reporting

• Review and understand technical documentation, APIs, and integration requirements

• Perform basic troubleshooting and issue validation before escalating to technical teams

• Support communication and coordination across multicultural and distributed teams

• Ensure clear documentation of project activities, decisions, and technical requirements

• Drive projects to successful delivery while maintaining quality and stakeholder satisfaction

Requirements

Must-Have

• Business-level Japanese language skills (JLPT N1 preferred)

• Strong verbal and written English communication skills

• Experience as a Technical Project Manager, Project Coordinator, Implementation Manager, or similar role

• Experience working on software development, integration, or technical delivery projects

• Practical understanding of:

  • APIs and web services

  • Authentication and authorization concepts

  • System integrations

  • Technical documentation

• Ability to independently investigate and validate technical issues before escalating to Engineering teams

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

• Ability to work remotely while collaborating during Japan business hours

Nice to Have

• Experience working with international or distributed teams

• Exposure to SaaS platforms and cloud-based solutions

• Understanding of Agile project delivery methodologies

• Previous experience supporting customers or technical implementations in Japan
