IT Systems Analyst - Microsoft 365 & Cloud Technologies
Purpose:
Colonna's Shipyard is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented IT Systems Analyst - Microsoft 365 & Cloud Technologies to administer, support, integrate, and continuously improve the organization's Microsoft cloud environment and related enterprise platforms. This position serves as a primary technical resource for Microsoft 365, identity and access, endpoint management, collaboration services, messaging, and cloud-based business technologies.
The successful candidate will provide hands-on administration and advanced troubleshooting across Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Intune, Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Defender, and related services. The role works closely with the Information Security Manager to implement approved security requirements, while remaining primarily responsible for platform administration, operational reliability, user lifecycle support, technical documentation, and service improvement.
Colonna's Shipyard is a leading provider of ship repair, fabrication, and overhaul services to the maritime industry. This full-time, onsite position may require occasional flexibility in working hours and work beyond a standard
workweek to support business operations and resolve service-impacting issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer and support Microsoft 365 services, including Microsoft Entra ID, Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Defender, and related cloud services.
- Manage user and administrator accounts, groups, role assignments, licenses, authentication methods, shared resources, and access throughout the employee lifecycle.
- Administer device enrollment, configuration profiles, compliance policies, application deployment, update policies, and endpoint-management processes through Microsoft Intune.
- Configure and maintain Exchange Online mailboxes, shared mailboxes, distribution groups, mail contacts, transport-related settings, retention configurations, and mail-flow troubleshooting.
- Support identity and access technologies including multifactor authentication, enterprise applications, application registrations, single sign-on, privileged roles, and approved Conditional Access configurations.
- Maintain Microsoft Teams and SharePoint Online administrative settings, permissions, external-sharing configurations, lifecycle practices, and service integrations.
- Administer operational components of Microsoft Defender and related security platforms; investigate alerts and coordinate security concerns with the Information Security Manager.
- Implement approved security, governance, retention, data-protection, and compliance configurations established by IT leadership and the Information Security Manager.
- Monitor service health, platform advisories, administrative alerts, licensing changes, and system capacity; coordinate corrective actions and communicate service impacts.
- Provide advanced escalation support for complex issues involving cloud identity, endpoints, messaging, collaboration services, enterprise applications, and Microsoft 365 integrations.
- Use PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, APIs, administrative portals, and approved automation methods to perform repeatable administration, reporting, troubleshooting, and bulk changes.
- Create and maintain system documentation, configuration standards, administrative procedures, diagrams, inventories, ownership records, change records, and troubleshooting guides.
- Manage and support third-party SaaS platforms and integrations assigned to the role, including access, licensing, configuration, vendor coordination, and technical escalation.
- Participate in technology implementations, migrations, tenant changes, software deployments, and integrations; conduct testing and verify compatibility and operational readiness.
- Coordinate with the Information Security Manager, infrastructure personnel, support technicians, vendors, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, reliable, and supportable technology services.
- Maintain working awareness of Power Platform, Power Automate, and business workflow solutions to support integrations and troubleshooting; dedicated workflow development is not the primary focus of this position.
- Prepare system-health reports, project updates, risk summaries, and recommendations for IT leadership.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Professional experience administering Microsoft 365 or comparable enterprise cloud technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Exchange Online, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint Online administration.
- Experience with identity lifecycle administration, role-based access, multifactor authentication, enterprise applications, licensing, groups, and access troubleshooting.
- Experience with endpoint enrollment, compliance, configuration profiles, application deployment, and device-management troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Defender, Conditional Access, retention, information protection, and cloud security administration.
- Experience using PowerShell for Microsoft 365 administration, reporting, troubleshooting, or bulk operations.
- Strong understanding of cloud services, identity, endpoints, messaging, collaboration platforms, networks, and enterprise applications.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and document corrective and preventive actions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple operational and project priorities.
- Ability to explain technical issues and recommendations clearly to technical staff, business stakeholders, and leadership.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimal Travel; 10% or less.
- Experience administering Microsoft 365 in a government, GCC High, Department of Defense contractor, or other regulated environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Graph, REST APIs, JSON, application registrations, certificates, secrets, and service principals.
- Experience with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Office 365, Defender for Identity, Microsoft Sentinel, and Microsoft Purview.
- Experience supporting Apple Business Manager, mobile device management, third-party MFA, SaaS platforms, or Microsoft 365 backup solutions.
- Working awareness of Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI, Microsoft Forms, and SharePoint-based business solutions.
- Microsoft certifications such as Microsoft 365 Administrator, Endpoint Administrator, Identity and Access Administrator, Messaging Administrator, or related credentials.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity and compliance practices applicable to CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, or similar regulated environments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Sit, Stand, Walk, Bend, Squat, Climb, Reach, Push and Pull, Stoop, Crawl, Kneel, Balance, Lift and Carry various objects and equipment.
- General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 50% of the time.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available, but also requires safe navigation and regular partnership with operations teams within shipyard/industrial environments.
- Movement through the yard often requires personal protective equipment.
- Lighting and temperature are adequate and there is minimal exposure to unpleasant conditions caused by noise and dust.

Pay Range: $68,960 - $93,299
Determination of base salary considers various factors, including but not limited to scope of responsibility, candidate’s relative and specific experience, education level, key skills, as well as other business considerations.
