IT Software Engineer

IT Software Engineer

As a Software Engineer, you design, develop and operate scalable, high-quality solutions. You combine technical expertise with conceptual thinking to shape Hilti’s cloud capabilities that form the backbone of Hilti’s digital infrastructure. Beyond hands-on development, you consume end-to-end technical ownership of your services, contribute to overarching initiatives and foster collaboration across global stakeholders and promote continuous improvements.

What You'll do

You will be a part of our forward looking, international Cloud Development Platform DevSecOps team shaping Hilti’s cloud and AI capabilities of tomorrow. You take end-to-end ownership by designing, developing and operating high-quality platform services that build the backbone of Hilti’s software offering. You drive continuous improvement, act on technical debt and operational risks proactively as well as optimize the cloud system for scalability and performance. In addition, you apply engineering standards and established DevSecOps practices professionally and contribute to the AWS cloud software engineering community.

What You’ll Bring

• Hands-on experience in software engineering with a strong focus on continuous learning and technical curiosity.
• Deep expertise in modern Java (17+) including concurrency, multithreading, reactive programming, build tools (Gradle/Maven lifecycle), and design principles (SOLID), with experience in performance tuning, JVM optimization and troubleshooting.
• Proven hands-on experience with Spring Boot ecosystem (Security, WebFlux, Data/MyBatis), understanding of Spring internals (beans, AOP, request handling, serialization), and API design using REST and OpenAPI.
• Experience in designing and operating microservices on AWS using ECS, DynamoDB and Aurora, with knowledge of event-driven systems and services such as SQS, SNS, EventBus and Lambdas, combined with CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Experience in modern testing approaches (e.g., RestAssured, TestContainers, WireMock, Localstack) and a understanding of cloud security, resilience, and operational excellence in enterprise environments.
