IT Security Specialist

Want to influence the bigger picture? At Saab, you can realise amazing innovations that keep people and societies safe. Together, we can truly make an impact – and your part matters.

Your role

We are seeking a highly organized and relationship-driven IT Security Specialist to join our team at Business Area Surveillance. As an IT Security Specialist at Saab, you will work in an international context where advanced security threats, complex IT environments and high-impact business projects are part of the everyday business.

In this role, you will ensure the technical effectiveness of our Security Management System (SMS) by defining and validating the controls that secure our environment. You will be responsible for modernizing our technical oversight and bridging the gap between compliance requirements and operational reality. Acting as the primary lead for technical security validation, you will work closely with IT to provide the necessary oversight and ensure robust risk mitigation throughout the IT system lifecycle.

Your main tasks will be:

• Translate SMS and security requirements into technical standards, guidelines, and specifications.
• Turn security policies into practical technical solutions and secure system designs.
• Oversee the implementation of security controls across the IT lifecycle.
• Drive requirements for automation and digital tools to improve security monitoring and compliance.
• Validate technical compliance through reviews, audits, scans, and configuration assessments.
• Perform threat modeling and technical risk assessments to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
• Partner with architects and system owners to ensure security by design.
• Act as the technical security expert, providing guidance and supporting risk-based decisions.

Preferred locations for this role are Solna/Stockholm or Kallebäck/Göteborg.

Your profile

Personal qualities are of paramount importance for this role. We are looking for someone with unwavering integrity, strong ethics, and a high level of trustworthiness. You should possess the ability to build and cultivate strong professional networks and relationships, both internally and externally.

You are a self-starter who can work independently while remaining a collaborative team player, always maintaining a focus on business and the collective result. Finally, you must have a mature understanding of "balanced security” - the ability to implement robust security measures that enable, rather than hinder, a business-driven environment.

Required skills:

• University degree and/or relevant experience in IT security, cybersecurity, computer science, or a related field.
• Experience translating security frameworks such as ISO/IEC 27001, NIST 800-171, and/or KSF (Försvarsmaktens krav på säkerhetsfunktioner) into technical baselines and standards.
• Experience conducting technical risk assessments, threat modeling, and vulnerability analysis.
• Strong understanding of secure system design, networking, and security architecture.
• Ability to analyze technical findings and convert them into actionable remediation plans.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical security matters to both technical and non-technical stakeholders in Swedish and English.

Desired skills:

• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA.
• Experience with cloud security, containerization, and microservice environments.
• Experience from the defense industry, government authorities, or global organizations.
• Knowledge of security tools such as vulnerability scanners, SIEM, and IAM solutions.
• Experience with DevSecOps, automation, and continuous compliance monitoring.
• Experience leading technical security initiatives or projects.

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
