Roles & Responsibilities of and IT Assistant
1. Technical Support
Help Desk Support: Serve as a primary point of contact for IT-related issues and inquiries. Respond to support requests via phone, email, and in-person.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware and software malfunctions to ensure minimal downtime for users.
Installation and Configuration: Assist in the setup and configuration of computer systems, peripherals, and software applications.
2. Network Management
Basic Networking Support: Aid in the maintenance of local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs). This includes monitoring network performance and connectivity issues.
User Account Management: Create, modify, and delete user accounts in various systems, ensuring appropriate permissions and access levels.
3. Maintenance and Documentation
System Maintenance: Regularly update and patch software applications and operating systems to ensure security and performance.
Documentation: Keep detailed records of support requests, solutions provided, and system configurations. Compile reports on IT operations and maintenance.
4. Assisting IT Projects
Project Participation: Assist in IT projects such as hardware upgrades, software deployments, or implementation of new IT solutions.
Training: Provide basic training to employees on new technologies, software applications, and best practices for maintaining security and software hygiene.
5. Inventory Management
Equipment Inventory: Help manage inventory of IT equipment, including computers, printers, and accessories. Ensure that the inventory is up-to-date and properly tracked.
Supplies Ordering: Monitor supply levels and assist in ordering replenishment for hardware and software licenses as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Technical Skills: Proficient in common operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), office productivity software, and basic networking concepts.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively and efficiently.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with users and technical staff.
Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
