About
An internship on the Avanade Agentic Engineering Factory: a team building the reusable GitHub Copilot assets, guardrails and workflows that let Avanade teams adopt agentic development safely and at scale. You build the demonstration application and the quality guardrails that validate those assets.
We are thrilled to announce an exciting internship opportunity for students passionate about developing cutting-edge solutions using Microsoft technologies. This internship offers a unique chance to gain hands-on experience designing and building a realistic full-stack application, and to pioneer AI-assisted development with GitHub Copilot.
As an intern, you will join a multidisciplinary team of 2 to 4 students. You will design and implement a full-stack solution (frontend, backend, database) that exercises every reusable Copilot asset the team creates, and you will drive the quality guardrails: code review agents, architecture checks, testing standards and quality-gate pipelines that keep AI-assisted code production-ready.
A central focus of the assignment is GitHub Copilot agentic development: you will use Copilot and custom Copilot agents daily across requirements refinement, specification, coding, review and documentation, and you will experiment with and measure AI code review agents to understand how AI-generated code can be made secure, maintainable, testable and compliant.
Join us in this dynamic and supportive environment where your creativity and skills will be valued. Make a real impact and gain invaluable experience that will set you apart in your career journey.
Come join us
Join our dynamic Apps & Infra department and collaborate with experienced professionals to develop innovative solutions that address real-world business challenges faced by Avanade and its customers. You will work on analysing requirements, designing, coding, testing and implementing your solutions.
You will collaborate closely with stakeholders throughout the development process, from ideation to delivery. Additionally, you will create technical and functional documentation to highlight the capabilities and use cases of the solutions you develop, and conduct demo presentations to demonstrate your work.

Skills and experiences
■ Strong object-oriented programming experience is expected. This may be in Java, C#, Python, C++ or another object-oriented language. Strong C# and .NET knowledge is a significant advantage.
■ Frontend experience: familiarity with Angular, React, Vue or a comparable modern framework.
■ Backend experience: experience building APIs or services. ASP.NET Core is a significant advantage, but experience with another backend stack is welcome.
■ A sound understanding of core software engineering principles and a genuine interest in clean, maintainable code: separation of concerns, design patterns, SOLID, DRY, YAGNI and KISS.
■ Testing mindset: unit and integration testing, testable design, and an interest in static analysis, coverage thresholds and automated quality gates.
■ Knowledge of SQL (SQL Server, Azure SQL) and NoSQL databases (Azure Cosmos DB).
■ Git-based development is required: branches, commits, pull requests, merge strategies and collaborative code review on GitHub.
■ Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation, especially GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps or YAML-based pipelines, is a major advantage.
■ Familiarity with Azure is a strong advantage, but it is not required. You should be motivated to learn cloud technologies during the internship.
■ Interest in AI-assisted engineering: curious about GitHub Copilot, coding agents and agentic workflows. No prior agentic experience is required, you will learn it here.
About you
■ Academic pursuit: currently enrolled in a computer science or related program at a college or university.
■ You are passionate about software development, engineering quality and technological innovation.
■ You have a strong interest in learning agent development and exploring the GitHub Copilot platform, including custom instructions, skills, agents and agentic workflows.
■ You are motivated to learn Azure and cloud-native engineering if you do not already have cloud experience.
■ You have excellent communication skills and are able to work effectively in an international environment (English, French and/or Flemish).
What you'll do
1. Build the demonstration application. Design and implement a realistic, object-oriented full-stack solution (frontend, backend, database) that exercises every reusable Copilot asset the team creates.
2. Drive quality. Apply clean-code principles, design patterns and automated testing. Define and implement code-review agents, architecture checks, testing standards and quality-gate GitHub Actions that keep AI-assisted code production-ready.
3. Apply agentic development. Use GitHub Copilot and custom Copilot agents daily across requirements refinement, specification, coding, review and documentation, and help define where human review and approval remain essential.
4. Shape the review process. Experiment with AI code review agents and measure how well they detect complexity, duplication, anti-patterns and missing tests, and how much manual validation is still required.
5. Contribute Copilot assets. Co-author Copilot instructions, skills, prompt libraries and agents for the Frontend, Backend & .NET and Quality supply chains.
6. Document and demo. Write technical and functional documentation, and present demos to Avanade stakeholders.
KEY TAKEAWAY
You build the application that validates the factory and the quality guardrails that make AI-assisted code trustworthy: the assets you create are reused by Avanade teams after the internship ends.
