Build Beautiful Spaces. Do Work You’re Proud Of.
At Ferguson Builders, we believe the best work happens when talented people care about what they’re building, who they’re building it for, and the team they’re building it with.
We’re a growing residential design-build company creating custom homes and renovations throughout the Greenville area. Ferguson Builders has been named to Qualified Remodeler’s Top 500 three years in a row and was recognized as one of South Carolina’s 50 Fastest Growing Companies in 2025.
We’re proud of that growth, but our People and Core Values drive us.
Teamwork. Excellence. Motivation. Greater Purpose. Ownership.
These aren’t just words on a wall. We hire by them, evaluate by them, recognize people for them, and make decisions based on them. We’re looking for people who communicate well, take ownership, care about others, pursue excellence, keep learning, and bring a motivated, can-do attitude to their work.
About the Role:
We’re looking for an Interior Designer who wants to do more than create beautiful spaces.
- You’ll take a client’s vision, lifestyle, priorities, and budget and turn them into cohesive, functional designs that feel personal and can actually be built.
- You’ll guide clients through the design and selections process while collaborating with our Design, Estimating, Sales, and Production teams to carry the design from initial concept through construction.
You won’t just design it. You’ll see it come to life.
What You’ll Do:
- Own the creative design, selections, and overall design vision for assigned projects.
- Work alongside our Project Planners to guide clients through the design process, presentations, and selections.
- Develop thoughtful, functional designs that balance the client’s vision with budget, scope, and constructability.
- Create space plans, material palettes, cabinetry designs, presentations, and other design documentation that bring the vision to life.
- Collaborate with Drafting, Estimating, Procurement, Production, vendors, and trade partners to ensure designs are complete, accurate, and buildable.
- Stay involved through project handoff and construction, helping solve design challenges and ensure the finished project reflects the approved design intent.
You May Be a Great Fit Here If:
- You’re creative and organized.
- You love great design but understand the realities of residential construction.
- You’re confident guiding clients and making professional recommendations.
- You communicate clearly and speak up early when something isn’t right.
- You take ownership and follow through without needing repeated reminders.
- You enjoy collaborating and want to keep learning and improving.
- Teamwork, Excellence, Motivation, Greater Purpose, and Ownership genuinely reflect how you work.
What We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years of experience as an Interior Designer, Cabinet Designer, Lead Designer, or similar role within residential construction or design-build.
- Education in Interior Design, Drafting, Architectural Design, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong understanding of residential construction, materials, finishes, space planning, cabinetry, and selections.
- Excellent client communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
- Experience with Chief Architect or comparable CAD/design software preferred.
- Comfortable using Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, project management software, and learning new technology.
Benefits:
- 401(k) Match: 100% of the first 3% you contribute and 50% of the next 2%, for a maximum company match of 4%.
- Health Benefit through QSEHRA.
- Holidays Off & Vacation/PTO.
- Parental Leave.
- Company Gear & Apparel.
- Team Building & Family Events.
- Gear Share.
- Growth & Development.
- Profit Share: After 90 days, once you have taken on all your responsibilities and received a vote from the team, you’re eligible to receive a quarterly profit share. We believe sharing company profits encourages efficiency and ownership.
Your First 90 Days:
All roles begin with a 90-day employment agreement so we can make sure we’re a great fit for each other. You’ll receive training and feedback as you learn our team, systems, processes, and expectations. At the end of 90 days, if we’re both feeling great about the fit, we’ll extend a new employment agreement for a permanent position.
How to Apply:
We’re looking for thoughtful applicants who take pride in their work. If you want to create beautiful spaces, see those designs come to life, and grow with a team that cares deeply about what we do, we’d love to hear from you.
