About Airwallex

Airwallex is the AI-native financial operating system for a real-time, intelligent economy. More than 675,000 businesses, including McLaren Racing, Qantas, SHEIN, and TikTok, use us, directly or through our platform partners, to run their financial operations or build and monetize financial products of their own.

We started in Melbourne in 2015 to build the infrastructure global commerce runs on. We're the regulated backbone behind global payments: not by accident, but by design. A decade plus, 85+ licenses, and a financial infrastructure spanning North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.

We're co-headquartered in San Francisco and Singapore, with more than 2,300 people across 27 offices. We hire builders with founder-level energy, people who move fast with good judgment, dig in with real curiosity, and make calls from first principles rather than waiting to be told what to do. About the team

The SMB & Mid-Market Inbound Sales team is a key growth engine behind Airwallex’s scale. We work with inbound SMB and mid-market businesses, turning demand into customers through a fast, strategic sales process.

We’re looking for an experienced, high-energy sales professional who loves the phone, moves fast and knows how to turn conversations into customers.

This is a high-velocity, phone-first acquisition role. You’ll own inbound opportunities from first conversation through to activation, working with SME and mid-market businesses and managing a large pipeline at different stages of the sales journey.

You’ll bring a strong foundation in new-business sales, with experience progressing and closing deals with mid-market customers.

What you'll do

• Own and convert inbound opportunities from qualification through to activation

• Run strong discovery conversations to uncover customer needs and commercial opportunities

• Progress and close deals with SME and mid-market businesses

• Pick up the phone and create momentum. Calling is a core part of how you sell

• Manage a large pipeline of customers across different stages of the sales cycle

• Handle objections, create urgency and confidently move customers towards a decision

• Use data to understand your pipeline, performance and where to focus

Who you are

• You understand sales: You have proven new-business sales experience and a track record of closing deals.

• You love the phone: You enjoy speaking with customers, creating opportunities and moving deals forward through conversation.

• You're structured and organised: You can manage a high volume of customers across different stages, identify what needs your attention and prioritise the actions that will have the greatest impact.

• You're data-driven: You understand your numbers, use data to identify gaps and opportunities, and use those insights to decide where to focus.

• You're resilient: You stay positive and focused through challenges, adapt quickly and maintain momentum in a fast-paced sales environment.

• You learn quickly and independently: You pick up new products, processes and concepts quickly and can apply them without constant direction.

• You take ownership: You take responsibility for your results and proactively work out what needs to happen next.

• You move with pace: You're comfortable in a fast-moving environment, act with urgency and can manage multiple priorities at once.

• You're team-oriented: You want to win, but you also want to see the people around you win. You share what works, support the team and contribute to a high-performing culture.

Minimum qualifications

• 2+ years of proven success in a closing role, with consistent performance against quota

• Experience selling technology, payments or financial services

• Strong understanding of how businesses operate and financial services, with the ability to demonstrate this in customer conversations

• Demonstrated ability to operate as a self-starter in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
