Human Resources Intern - Onsite
Date of Internship: Summer 2027
Job Summary: The Human Resources team at GM Performance Power Unit is seeking an intern to join our team this summer! This role will rotate though various HR functions including talent and recruitment, payroll, and general operations. This internship provides a hands-on opportunity to work alongside HR professionals, contribute to meaningful projects, and develop a strong understanding of HR practices within a start-up environment. This opportunity is ideal for a student who enjoys working with people, solving problems, and is eager to learn how HR helps support employees and drive business success.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with recruiting and talent acquisition, including coordinating interviews and communicating with candidates.
Participate in career fairs, intern programming, community outreach, and university recruiting activities, as applicable.
Gain exposure to payroll systems, HRIS platforms, timekeeping systems, and payroll reporting tools.
Assist with payroll preparation and processing by reviewing employee information, time records, and payroll-related documentation.
Review time and attendance records for accuracy and help identify missing or incorrect entries.
Support the payroll team with payroll audits and reconciliations to help ensure accurate employee pay.
Support the HR team with day-to-day HR programs, projects, and administrative activities.
Support new hire onboarding and orientation activities to help create a positive employee experience.
Maintain and update employee records, HR databases, and documentation while ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
Assist in creating HR communications, presentations, reports, and program materials.
Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, Communications or a related field
Interest in working in a start-up organization
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
Collaboration: Works effectively with internal teams and external partners.
Adaptability: Responds effectively to evolving business needs and opportunities.
Ability to handle multiple projects independently
Strong attention to detail
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and move in diverse operational environments, including race shops, arenas, and commercial facilities.
Comfortable working in variable environmental conditions, including loud, high-traffic, or high-pressure environments.
