Health & Safety and Facilities Manager

About HIVED 📦

At HIVED, we’re steamrolling forward as one of Europe’s fastest growing startups, and our momentum shows no signs of slowing.

Based in London, we are a climate and logistics start-up building the first sustainable parcel delivery network at scale, powered by a 100% electric fleet. In an ever-growing industry where unreliable service has long been the norm, HIVED has been built from the ground-up to meet the demands of modern consumers and disrupt parcel delivery.

A tech company at heart, our talent and technology is laser-focused on delivering the best possible delivery experience for end-customers and meeting the needs of our retail partners. From our drivers to our data engineers, we are constantly working to improve this customer experience that makes us deliver better.

Already trusted by leading international brands such as John Lewis, Nespresso, Uniqlo, H&M brands and more, we are solidifying our position as the leaders in Europe to tackle this growing market.

Our tight-knit team is made up of ex-Revolut, DeepMind, Bain, HelloFresh, ASOS, Apple and Google employees, and we are backed by some of Europe’s leading investors and VCs in climate-tech, logistics and mobility including Planet A Ventures, Maersk Growth, Pale Blue Dot VC, Eka Ventures, NordicNinja VC and the British government. We’re passionate about driving innovation and redefining the future of delivery.

Our Values

• 😊 We Are Kind - Kind to the planet, our team and our partners. We listen with purpose, leave our egos at the door and aren't afraid to make difficult decisions. We must never confuse kindness with being "nice" - it requires us to be fair, consistent, honest, thoughtful and compassionate.

• 🤝 We Are Tenacious - We fight every day to keep the customer promise, for every parcel entrusted to us. No matter how hard it gets or whatever stands in our way, we are relentless in our pursuit of excellence.

• 💡 We Are Curious - We never settle, constantly challenge convention and are never afraid to ask why. We believe there is always more to learn, always a better way, and that we're always only just getting started. We never fight the urge to be inquisitive, to understand the world around us and to explore where others might not.

• 🌍 We Are Resourceful - Our planet's resources are scarce and our future depends on our ability to use them wisely. Waste is the enemy. We strive to do more with less, be more efficient and make the most of what we have.

Role Overview 📝

The Health & Safety & Facilities Manager owns the end-to-end design, implementation, and enforcement of Health & Safety and Facilities systems.

The role is accountable for:

H&S: building, implementing and embedding Hived’s H&S standards, processes, and culture.

Facilities: owning consumables management; taking ownership of Facilities management, building and managing a system to manage ad hoc Facilities needs (e.g. tickets); and taking ownership of the Facilities budget, supporting site General Managers to reduce Overheads expenditure.

Responsibilities

Health & Safety

• Design and implement a site H&S management system (H&S trainings, audits, risk assessments, inspections, incident reporting, corrective actions).

• Enforce H&S policies and standards on the floor; challenge unsafe behaviours.

• Embed H&S incident reporting.

• Lead incident and near-miss investigations and root cause analysis in collaboration with Ops.

• Deliver H&S training and ensure adoption and compliance, not box-ticking.

• Build and embed H&S-first culture.

• Escalate material risks or non-compliance to Operations leadership.

Facilities & Maintenance

• Shift facilities from exclusively reactive ticket handling to planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on core assets

• Own inspection and maintenance plans for:

  • Shutters and dock doors

  • Conveyance systems

  • Electric pallet equipment / MHE

  • Core warehouse infrastructure

• Triage and prioritise facilities tickets based on safety and operational risk.

• Track equipment health, downtime, and repeat failures.

• Define and manage supplier SLAs for response time and quality.

Non-Inventory & Consumables

• Own the non-inventory catalogue (e.g. scanners, printers, labels, batteries).

• Define minimum stock levels linked to volume and site activity.

• Ensure availability while avoiding over-stocking.

• Coordinate replenishment with Operations and suppliers.

Budget & Stakeholder Management

• Take ownership of Facilities Overheads costs, working with site GMs to identify and reduce spend.

• Work with Finance to understand and operate within the site-level facilities and maintenance budgets.

• Make cost vs risk trade-offs explicit and visible.

• Partner closely with Operations and Finance on priorities and escalations.

• Maintain strong working relationships with maintenance and compliance suppliers.

Requirements

• 4-6+ years’ experience in logistics, warehousing, or industrial environments.

• Proven ability to build and embed H&S systems and H&S qualifications, not just operate existing ones.

• Strong understanding of warehouse equipment and infrastructure.

• Comfortable enforcing standards and escalating non-compliance.

• Able to balance safety, cost, and operational continuity.

• Hands-on, structured, and inspection-driven.
