Start Your Career in IT Hardware Production
We are looking for a reliable and motivated Hardware Production Trainee to join our Production team in Alexandria NSW.
This role is based in Alexandria, and we are ideally looking for someone who lives locally or within a reasonable commuting distance.
This is a hands-on warehouse and production role involving the processing, testing, cleaning, sorting and preparation of computers and other electronic equipment.
You do not need previous IT experience. We are looking for someone who enjoys practical, repetitive and hands-on work, can follow processes carefully and takes pride in producing quality results.
As part of the traineeship in Information Technology, you will also have the opportunity to complete a nationally recognised Certificate in Information Technology while gaining practical experience working with IT hardware.
Important: This is primarily a production/warehouse-based position working with IT Hardware components, not an IT helpdesk, desktop support role. Applicants seeking a professional IT or Cyber Security position or who already hold a Diploma or higher qualification in IT may not be suitable or eligible for the traineeship.
About the Role
Working as part of our Production team, you will handle a range of used and new IT equipment, including:
Laptops
Desktop computers
Tablets
Mobile devices
Computer components and accessories
Your day-to-day work may include:
Receiving, sorting and organising IT equipment
Scanning and tracking incoming and outgoing assets
Inspecting and grading devices
Testing computers and electronic equipment
Cleaning and preparing devices for resale or reuse
Checking screens, keyboards, batteries, ports and other components
Performing basic hardware checks and diagnostics
Securely erasing data from devices
Preparing computers for deployment
Installing Windows and standard software
Performing basic hardware upgrades such as RAM and storage
Assisting with basic repairs and component replacement
Applying and printing asset labels
Packing and preparing equipment for dispatch
Completing quality control checks
Maintaining an organised and clean warehouse/production area
The role involves standing, moving equipment, repetitive tasks and working to established production processes, so a practical, hands-on approach is important.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
Enjoys hands-on, practical work
Is interested in computers and electronic equipment
Is reliable and punctual
Has good attention to detail
Can follow instructions and processes accurately
Is comfortable performing repetitive tasks
Works well in a warehouse or production environment
Is organised and takes pride in their work
Can work independently and as part of a team
Has a positive attitude and willingness to learn
Is physically comfortable handling and moving IT equipment
Can maintain quality while working towards production targets
You do not need to be an IT professional or have previous IT experience. We will provide training on the equipment, processes and technical skills required for the role.
What You'll Receive
Full-time paid employment
Nationally recognised Certificate in Information Technology
Paid study time during work hours
On-the-job training and mentoring
Practical experience working with computers and electronic equipment
Training in hardware testing and basic diagnostics
Experience in IT equipment refurbishment and preparation
Training in data sanitisation and Windows installation
Full employee entitlements, including annual leave, personal leave and public holidays

Who This Role Is Suited To
This opportunity would suit someone looking to start their working career, particularly someone interested in computers, electronics, warehouse work or practical hands-on roles.
You might be someone who enjoys pulling things apart, putting them back together, working with tools and equipment, or simply working with your hands and wants to develop practical skills while earning a qualification.
This is not a traditional IT support or office-based IT position. The majority of the role is hands-on production work involving the processing, testing, cleaning and preparation of IT equipment.
If you're reliable, practical, willing to learn and enjoy hands-on work, we'd love to hear from you.
