Builds and maintains the hardware integration layer between Occam's AI software and a wide range of drone sensors and airframes — configuring sensors, writing close-to-metal drivers/firmware, and normalizing hardware output so the AI scales across platforms. Hands-on role in Kyiv working with flight test teams and OEM engineering staff on combat-proven drone platforms.
Kyiv, Full-Time
Occam Industries applies AI to Ukraine's drone fleet, flying on live combat missions. We are partnered with some of the major OEMs and brigades in Ukraine and our AI is also deployed on EU platforms. We were built on a simple premise: deterrence is proven in the field, not built in a laboratory. We're hiring engineers who want their work tested by reality, not a simulator.
We're looking for a hardware / platform engineer to build the layer that sits between drone hardware and our software. Ukraine's fleet spans a huge range of sensors and airframes, evolving constantly under real operational pressure — your job is to standardise that chaos: configuring multiple sensor types to our software and normalising their output so our AI can scale across hardware platforms without being rebuilt each time. This isn't an abstract integrations role — you'll work directly with physical platforms, alongside our flight test team, to get new hardware onto the fleet fast. You will communicate directly with OEM R&D and engineering teams an influence platform design across the frontline and in the EU. Every airframe and sensor you bring online expands what our AI can fly, and how quickly it reaches the frontline.
What we're looking for:
- Strong systems / embedded software engineering fundamentals
- Experience integrating diverse sensors and hardware into a common software interface
- Comfort working close to the metal — firmware, drivers, hardware quirks — not just clean abstractions
- A willingness to get hands dirty — this is not a desk-only job
- Bilingual English / Ukrainian is a bonus but not necessary
What you get:
- Top-of-market compensation plus equity
- Work that ships to combat within days, not years
- We are able to discuss reservations for critical candidates with significant experience
Interview process:
- Typically a four stage interview process that will complete within one to two weeks.
- Offer conditional on background check by security services.
We are well funded by EU governments and defence primes. Based in Kyiv.
