Respawn Entertainment is looking for a Game Designer Intern to join us on the Apex Legends Team. Reporting to the Senior Lead Game Designer you will work in a team to help prototype and refine gameplay features in Apex Legends.
Responsibilities:
- Work with designers, engineers and other creative to develop the vision and improve compelling gameplay systems
- Write functional script that aligns with technical best practices
- Align and collaborate with multiple disciplines to promote the vision of gameplay features.
- Improve on features based on playtesting, design requirements, and creative direction
Requirements:
- You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree granting program with an anticipated graduation date no earlier than December 2027.
- Computer science fundamentals and scripting experience (Lua, Python, JavaScript, etc.)
- An interest & passion in creating gameplay systems, mechanics and game modes
- A strong attention to detail and an eye for polish
- A collaborative and inclusive attitude, ask questions, learn and adapt
- Communicate design ideas and requirements to non-designers
- Experience with a game engine or framework (Unreal, Unity, Godot, SDL, etc.)
- Drive to learn and comprehend the game design process, specifically game mechanics and design theory
Nice To Have:
- Experience with C++
- Portfolio of game projects
- Interest and passion working in a multiplayer live service environment
- Familiarity with the Battle Royale genre
At this time, we are considering Undergraduate students who will be enrolled in an accredited degree program, slated to graduate no earlier than December 2027. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis during the 16-week internship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
