Full stack engineer on State Farm's Sales Service and Assignment Application team, building and supporting applications that manage agent and team member information throughout their careers. Day-to-day work spans Java/Spring Boot backends, JavaScript frontends, and AWS services (Lambda, DynamoDB, Postgres) in a hybrid, agile setup based in Bloomington, IL.

This posting is for a software engineer position on State Farm's Sales Service and Assignment Application team (SSAA). We are a full stack development team that operates with an agile mindset in a hybrid work environment.
We provide products and services that provide a common platform to view and manage State Farm Agent and Agent Team Member information from initial hire throughout their career.
We are a “one-stop shop" for viewing and managing State Farm Agent/Agent Team Member, leveraging technology and business process improvements to drive integration and automation, improving accuracy, security, and efficiency for the Enterprise.

Responsibilities
• Design, develop, implement, test, and support products for business areas (creating new or modifying existing applications/tools to meet technical specifications or business needs)
• Provides support for problem resolution and provides technical consultation to business partners
• Identify problems, related technical issues and the approach to long-term, repeatable solutions meeting customer/grantor needs
• Participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, story development, team retrospectives, etc.
• Maintain and continue to develop breadth of knowledge in software engineering topics, including classes, functions, security, containers, version control, CI/CD, and unit tests
• Maintain and continue to develop breadth of knowledge in Cloud related technologies, Lambda (NodeJs/Java), APIGateway, DynamoDB, Postgres
• Maintain and continue to develop breadth of knowledge in programming (e.g., Java, JavaScript), and database functionality (e.g., SQL, Postgres)
• Develop an understanding of user experience best practices and test designs and standards
• Collaborate with business subject matter resources to design and build a solution that meets business requirements
• Ability to learn new technical concepts quickly and share knowledge with the team
We Are Looking for Candidates With
• JavaScript libraries & frameworks, CSS, JSON
• Core Java, J2EE and related frameworks, Spring Boot, REST services
• CI/CD pipelines that leverage tools like Gitlab, and GitOps
• Knowledge of AWS services (S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, etc.)
Nice to have skills/experiences
• Experience designing, architecting and implementing solutions in AWS via automation (e.g. Terraform)
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot or similar technologies) to improve software development productivity, code quality, testing, and documentation.
