Boxbar Tech creates award-winning self-service drinks technology used across stadiums, festivals, arenas and hospitality venues around the world.
Our platform brings together custom hardware, Android applications, cloud services, payments and management software to help our partners serve customers faster, reduce queues and operate more efficiently.
We’re growing our engineering team and looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer who enjoys solving real-world problems, working across a varied technology stack and taking ownership of products from concept through to deployment.
This is a hands-on role covering both frontend and backend development, with opportunities to contribute to Android applications, cloud infrastructure, hardware integrations and emerging AI projects.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across engineering, product, operations and customer success to design, build and improve customer-facing products, internal tools and backend services.
As part of a small, collaborative engineering team, you’ll have plenty of autonomy and the opportunity to make a visible impact. One week you could be developing a new React feature; the next, building a backend service, integrating a payment provider or improving how we remotely manage devices deployed across major venues.
This role would suit someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership of their work and wants to help shape the technology behind a growing international business.
You’ll ideally have at least three years of commercial software development experience and a strong grounding in modern software engineering.
Experience across most of the following would be particularly relevant:
You don’t need to tick every box. Strong engineering fundamentals, curiosity and the ability to learn quickly are more important than experience with every part of our stack.
Our engineering challenges are varied and closely connected to products operating in live, real-world environments.
Projects may include:
Our technology ecosystem currently includes:
React | TypeScript | Node.js | AWS | PostgreSQL | Firebase | Docker | GitHub Actions | REST APIs | Kotlin | Java
You won’t need experience with everything on this list. We value strong software engineering fundamentals and a willingness to broaden your skills.
You’ll enjoy this role if you:
You’ll be joining a growing technology business where software connects directly with physical products used in some of the world’s most exciting live environments.
You’ll have autonomy, technical variety and the opportunity to influence how our products and platforms evolve as we continue to scale internationally.
This is an opportunity to work across the stack, take meaningful ownership and build technology that solves genuine operational and customer problems.
Our process is designed to be straightforward, practical and relevant to the role.
An introductory conversation covering your motivation, relevant experience, communication style and practical details such as location, availability and salary expectations.
A practical assessment designed to understand how you approach software engineering, technical decision-making and problem-solving.
A final conversation focused on how you take ownership, collaborate with others and approach real-world technical challenges within a growing business.
Boxbar Tech is committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone is treated fairly, respected and able to do their best work.
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and do not discriminate on the basis of age, disability, gender identity or reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation or any other protected characteristic.
We’re interested in your potential, experience and approach. Even where you don’t meet every requirement listed, we encourage you to apply where you believe you could make a strong contribution to Boxbar.
We’re also happy to discuss reasonable adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process.
