Full Stack Engineer

Company

Elara is a U.S.-based company that is setting up a subsidiary in Kochi, India. Based on decades of experience in the domain, Elara is building a modern enterprise healthcare platform using React, C#, SQL Server, secure APIs, cloud infrastructure, AI-enabled services, and reusable frontend components that prioritises end-user experience and accessibility needs.

While we’re still in the discovery phase, we‘d like our architecture to reflect a modern twelve-factor application with a shift-left mentality. We highly value infrastructure as code, modern secrets management, integration with automated code-quality tools, the ability to automatically provision environments, observability, containerisation, etc. In addition, integration of testing with both dev environments and CI/CD pipelines, database management and migrations, authentication, and a frequent, low-effort release strategy are important.

Position

Multiple roles from Full-Stack Developer to Principal Engineer

Location

Kochi’s a port city on the Arabian Sea, an ancient trade hub for hundreds of years with the Arabs, the Chinese, and the Europeans. It‘s surrounded by greenery, with everything from the mountains to the seas within a short drive, and has a vibrant multi-cultural, multi-faith society. As we start, for the first year, we‘re willing to consider freelance engineers who’re able to work in our timezone. Our preference, though, is always a permanent position. We’ll help you relocate.

You and Us

The first thing you should know about us is that in the parent American company, we have exceptional employee retention. Many of us have been here for decades, starting their journey with us as young, fresh-faced grads. This comes from fostering a true team ethos rather than a hierarchical structure of silos. We intend to have a team in Kochi that embodies collective ownership of the entire application: not just the code but also as shareholders in the business. You‘ll be part of the first set of engineers that establishes the technical and cultural foundations of our new office. Hopefully, you’ll be with us for decades to come.

We recognise that not everyone who applies will have professional experience with all the technologies listed above, and that some of you may even be new to the industry. What we will evaluate your application on is in your ability to communicate well what you do know, your attitude towards establishing something enduring, and how you see yourself as part of everything described above. To that end, if you do decide to apply, a paragraph or two about your experiences that align with either the technical or cultural preferences we’ve listed above will help us prioritise a conversation.
