Designs and builds mechanical systems for a mobile robot that autonomously unloads shipping containers, focusing on speed, reliability, and safety. Works with CAD, prototyping, and off-the-shelf components to iterate hardware for real-world logistics use.
About Servo7
We’re a small team, building robots to automate how the world's goods are moved. We build AI-powered robots for the hardest, most demanding job in logistics: unloading loose-loaded shipping containers at the dock door, the entry point of the entire supply chain. Our robots work in the field, doing the job for paying customers. For 3 months in a row, we have doubled our customer base. Now, we need more engineers to keep up with demand.
Founded by a team with experience in military drones, surgical robots, LLM research, and world models. We have an office and a small factory in Amsterdam, The Netherlands (with an actual shipping container inside). We operate across western Europe, and we have global growth ahead of us.
Our first product is Mammoth, a mobile container unloading robot. One robot at the dock door that is deployed in just 45 minutes, unloading a full container. Mammoth reads the container in real time and handles each box as it finds it. We deploy, we watch, we fix, and deploy again. The whole loop, often within a single day. If you want to be part of a team that builds fast, consider applying.
What you’ll do
As our Founding Hardware Engineer, you have ownership over all the mechanical aspects of the robot. We expect you to take initiative to improve the speed, reliability, safety and overall usefulness of the robot.
- Prototype new parts and subsystems in and around the robot (a lot of different moving machines working together)
- Design the hardware for manufacturing, serviceability and safety
- Select and integrate off-the-shelf components (actuators, pneumatics, sensors, structural elements) and know when to build versus buy.
- Build test rigs and run experiments to validate designs against real container-unloading conditions
- Work with AI and software teams to make sure all systems fit together cleanly
What we’re looking for
- You've taken robots/machines from first sketch to a working system in the real world (in production).
- Strong CAD skills and a track record of parts you've designed, built and iterated on.
- Proven experience across prototyping methods (3D printing, machining, off-the-shelf sourcing) and a bias for building and testing over polishing in isolation.
- You want to work in a startup: you'll get your hands dirty building, deploying and debugging while having fun together.
