Job Description & Summary

At PwC, our people in software and product innovation focus on developing cutting-edge software solutions and driving product innovation to meet the evolving needs of clients. These individuals combine technical experience with creative thinking to deliver innovative software products and solutions.

Those in software engineering at PwC will focus on developing innovative software solutions to drive digital transformation and enhance business performance. In this field, you will use your knowledge to design, code, and test cutting-edge applications that revolutionise industries and deliver exceptional user experiences.

PwC is looking for talented Forward Deployed Engineers to join a growing engineering community that works at the intersection of business needs, emerging technology and disciplined software engineering.

As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will work close to real business problems, partnering with teams across PwC to turn early-stage ideas into working proof-of-concept software at pace. This is a hands-on engineering role with strong business exposure. It is not a non-technical translator role or a prompt-only analyst role and you will be expected to have and demonstrate development experience and familiarity working with code, repos and SDLC models.

You will work with a specific business team while also contributing to a wider engineering community. You will help build rapid prototypes, reusable technical patterns and AI-enabled solutions that can be validated quickly and, where appropriate, developed further for live use by PwC’s technology and innovation teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with business stakeholders to understand challenges, validate assumptions and identify opportunities for innovative technical proof-of-concepts.
• Design and build rapid prototypes using approved tools, secure engineering practices and AI-enabled development technologies.
• Integrate APIs, data sources, AI models and workflows to create functional proof-of-concept solutions that deliver business value.
• Apply robust software engineering standards including version control, code reviews, testing, defect management and secure coding practices.
• Document solution architecture, security and compliance considerations, production readiness gaps and opportunities for reuse and scalability.
• Champion Responsible AI principles and share reusable components, best practices and lessons learned across the engineering community.

The skills and experience we’re looking for:

• Hands-on software engineering experience.
• Experience building prototypes, integrations, digital products or automation solutions.
• Practical experience with Git-based development workflows.
• Experience using AI-enabled development tools or coding assistants.
• Understanding of secure development practices and data governance.
• Ability to work at pace in ambiguous environments.
• Strong communication skills and confidence working directly

What you’ll receive from us:

No matter where you may be in your career or personal life, our benefits are designed to add value and support, recognising and rewarding you fairly for your contributions.

We offer a range of benefits including empowered flexibility and a working week split between office, home and client site; private medical cover and 24/7 access to a qualified virtual GP; six volunteering days a year and much more.
