Compensation package:
- Base Salary: $1,800 USD per month (gross; subject to applicable Belize income tax and Social Security deductions)
- Offer will be aligned based on experience and qualifications within the approved salary range
- Benefits: Paid annual vacation, paid sick leave and paid public holidays in accordance with the Belize Labour Act, plus Social Security coverage through the Social Security Board.

About the property: The Placencia Resort is a 90-room beachfront resort on Maya Beach along Belize's Placencia Peninsula, near the Belize Barrier Reef and the Maya Mountains. The resort offers one-, two- and three-bedroom accommodations, beachfront villas and suites, a pool with a swim-up bar, an overwater pier bar, a spa and a marina. Throughout 2027, the resort will undergo a full renovation and repositioning to an internationally recognized brand standard, while continuing to welcome guests with approximately 30 guestrooms, its food & beverage outlets, pool and spa.

Position Summary: The Food & Beverage Manager leads all food and beverage operations at The Placencia Resort, including the restaurant, swim-up pool bar, overwater pier bar, in-room dining and events. Reporting to the General Manager, this leader is responsible for food quality, prompt and courteous service, food safety, beverage controls and the profitability of every outlet.
This is a hands-on role during an important period of change. The Food & Beverage Manager will help transition the resort to Remington Hospitality systems and controls, keep outlets running at a high standard while the resort operates with about 30 guestrooms during the 2027 renovation, and prepare the team to deliver new brand standards at reopening. Candidates with hotel opening or transition experience, and who have helped build structure, processes, staffing and operational systems, will be prioritized.
Key Performance Indicators:
Performance will be measured against a combination of financial, guest, operational and team objectives, including:
- Food & beverage revenue and average check against budget
- Food, beverage and labour cost percentages
- Departmental profit and flow-through
- Guest satisfaction scores and online reviews for dining outlets
- Health inspection, food safety and sanitation results
- Accuracy of monthly inventories and beverage controls
- Brand standards and quality assurance audit results
- Team member engagement, retention and training completion
Core Responsibilities
- Food & Beverage Operations
- Direct the daily operation of all food and beverage outlets, in-room dining and events to deliver quality food and prompt, courteous service.
- Ensure leadership coverage on every shift so each outlet has constant supervision.
- Establish and review standards for food preparation, purchasing, receiving and production in partnership with the culinary team.
- Monitor sanitation, cleanliness and organization in all food and beverage areas.
- Maintain appropriate inventories of food, beverage, supplies and operating equipment.
- Financial Performance
- Drive revenue through menus, specials, promotions and local resident and marina guest business.
- Manage food, beverage and labour costs, and adjust staffing levels to business volume, especially during reduced inventory.
- Conduct monthly inventories and support budgeting and forecasting for the division.
- Food Safety, Beverage Controls & Compliance
- Ensure safe food handling practices are followed at all times and that team members hold required food handler certifications.
- Establish and review liquor procedures to ensure security and accountability, and ensure the team is trained in responsible alcohol service.
- Ensure compliance with Belize health, liquor licensing, safety and labour requirements, and with brand and company standards.
- Transition & Renovation Support
- Support the transition of food and beverage operations to Remington Hospitality systems, controls and procedures, including point-of-sale and inventory processes.
- Build and document outlet structure, staffing plans, schedules and standard operating procedures.
- Coordinate with the General Manager and renovation team to keep outlets operating smoothly and safely during construction.
- Prepare the team and outlets to meet new brand standards at reopening.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, schedule, train, coach and evaluate food and beverage team members and leaders.
- Address performance concerns fairly and consistently, in partnership with Human Resources and in line with company policy and the Belize Labour Act.
- Participate in Executive Committee, staff and Manager on Duty programs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
- 3–5 years of food & beverage leadership experience in a hotel or resort, with a proven record of success.
- Hotel opening, transition or renovation experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success establishing structure, processes, staffing and operational systems.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation and responsible alcohol service.
- Working knowledge of food & beverage cost controls, inventories and point-of-sale systems.
- Adaptable, resourceful and hands-on, with the ability to lead through change.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written, in English; Spanish is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business or a related discipline preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to maintain staff and guest confidentiality at all times.
- Regular attendance according to established guidelines, with flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays based on business needs.
