Job Description:
The Financial Planning and Analysis Senior Manager develops, interprets and implements financial and accounting concepts or techniques related to strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting to drive business results. This individual executes monthly financial reporting, weekly operational reporting, preparation of corporate strategic metrics, and ad hoc requests. The Financial Planning and Analysis Manager is responsible for reporting and analytical needs across various corporate initiatives; including, but not limited to, RaceTrac Board and Shareholder meetings and Senior Leadership Team meetings.
Responsibilities:
- Develops, implements, and maintains an effective planning and analysis capability that will provide senior leadership with appropriate analytical tools to establish goals and measure performance.
- Partners with senior and executive management on special projects, ad hoc analyses, and Board and Shareholder meeting preparation.
- Manages annual corporate budget process, incorporating business initiatives, economic trends, and operational effectiveness. Works with various groups to accurately prepare a plan, set goals, benchmark, discuss variances to the plan, and re-forecast.
- Reports annual budgets, operating plans, and forecasts to senior management.
- Conducts complex analysis on RaceTrac’s most critical strategic initiatives and investments. Identifies opportunities for growth and reports to the senior executive level.
- Analyzes various weekly/monthly financial reports and distributes to executives and department heads. Provides the ‘why’ behind abnormalities while telling the story with trend data.
- Develops and executes processes to allow for routine analytical reviews of company financial and operational performance, leveraging business unit analytical resources and tools.
- Assists executives with the creation and reporting timeframes for strategic metrics.
- Provides regularly scheduled reporting to all levels of the organization.
- Executes ad hoc data analyses in response to business requests including analysis of all levels revenues, expenses, and profitability for corporate divisions and the company as a whole. Works with internal customers to refine and improve current reporting and analysis.
- Remains unbiased when evaluating results of analysis and ensures the full picture is presented accurately.
- Effectively presents analytical findings and leads discussions with managers and executives.
- Develops relationships and credibility with assigned business units.
- Serves as a business-partner with various functional areas to drive additional profitability through forecasting and analysis.
- Understands and translates internal and external customer business needs into analytical project design and data-driven insight.
- Serves as a leader and mentor for Analysts and provides guidance on processes and projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; a degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field required
- 8+ years’ experience in related field preferred
- 4+ years in a leadership role preferred
- Experience performing business analysis or financial/statistical data in a retail environment preferred
- Experience with capital expenditures and capital budgeting, capitalization, and financing decisions preferred
