The Opportunity:
As our Financial Accountant, you'll join a collaborative finance team within a dynamic ASX-listed business, gaining exposure to a broad range of financial, commercial, and operational activities across AACo. Reporting to the Group Financial Reporting Manager, this role offers the opportunity to develop your technical accounting expertise, build strong stakeholder relationships, and contribute to projects that support the continued success and growth of the business.
What you’ll do:
- Support the month-end close process, including journal preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, financial analysis, and consolidation activities.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reporting for the Executive Team, Board, and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to the preparation of half-year and annual statutory reporting requirements, including ASX reporting obligations.
- Coordinate and support external audit processes, working closely with auditors and internal stakeholders.
- Assist with technical accounting research, accounting policies, governance and compliance activities.
- Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions and support the consolidation of overseas subsidiaries.
- Support the preparation and audit of subsidiary financial statements, including liaison with local advisers and auditors where required.
- Identify opportunities to enhance reporting processes, improve efficiencies, and support automation initiatives.
- Build strong working relationships across Finance and the broader business, providing practical financial guidance and support.
What you’ll bring:
- Approximately 3-5 years' experience in accounting, audit, financial reporting, or a related finance environment.
- Experience working within an ASX-listed corporate finance team, professional services firm, or a combination of both. Exposure to listed company reporting requirements would be highly regarded.
- A degree in Commerce, Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- CA or CPA qualification, or progress towards completion.
- Would ideally suit a first mover out of a professional services firm.
- Strong financial accounting knowledge, including a sound understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and financial controls.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships and explain financial information clearly to a range of stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence using financial systems and reporting tools.
- Experience with platforms such as Power BI, Workiva, Tableau, or Anaplan will be highly regarded.
- A collaborative mindset, a willingness to learn, and a desire to contribute to the success of both the Finance team and the broader business.
