Finance Manager

Are you a numbers person who also loves a challenge that changes by the week? Do you want to help build the financial backbone of a fast-growing, internationally scaling sports business?

About us

At MWS, we are on a mission to become the home of game-worn culture. We do this by connecting global fanbases to the ultimate fan item: game-used and signed shirts from the world's biggest athletes and brands around the world. We accelerate engagement, interaction, and revenue by enabling our customers to access pieces of sporting history, while raising funds for the causes that matter most to our partners. We do it all live from the moment the game starts. With more than 400 partners globally, we are the outright market leaders in our industry. We see ourselves as innovators, constantly looking for new ways to surprise and delight our audience.

About you
We're looking for a Finance Manager to lead and strengthen our Finance team as MWS continues to grow across borders. You'll manage a small, close-knit finance team, working directly with our Head of Finance, and playing a key role in getting our US expansion financially watertight while helping professionalize our reporting and systems.

What You'll Do

• Manage the day-to-day financial operations of the business.

• Lead and develop a small finance team, including an intern.

• Support the Head of Finance on finance operations and needs across our global group entities, including payroll and tax.

• Drive innovation and efficiency within the finance team, including documenting process flows and redesigning processes where needed.

• Manage our US expansion from a finance perspective, source and work closely with local financial partners as we build out our US presence.

• Bring structure to our reporting by help shaping internal and external reporting tools that actually help the business make decisions.

• Get Odoo fully up and running, lead the implementation and integration of cost centers and purchase orders within our ERP system.

• Own the finance side of the annual audit process, in line with deadline.

We are looking for the following skill set:

• Pro-Active Mindset: A self-motivating, can-do mentality — we always find a way to make it work.

• People Skills: Easy to talk to, with the social skills to manage a highly motivated team spanning different cultural backgrounds, experience levels, and personalities.

• Communication: Fluent English communicator, both written and verbal.

• Decision-Making: Proven ability to make sound decisions — you'll report directly into the Head of Finance, so a pro-active approach, problem-solving mentality, and the ability to spot what really matters are essential.

• Ambition: Drive and ambition to grow towards a Head of Finance position.

• International Outlook: Comfortable navigating the complexity that comes with a fast-growing, multi-entity, international business.

• Accounting Standards: Proven experience with Dutch GAAP or IFRS is a must; US GAAP is a plus.

• Systems: Experience with Odoo is a plus.

Qualifications & Experience

• Professional Depth: 5+ years of relevant working experience.

• Education: A degree in Finance or another relevant field.

• Legal: EU/NL passport or valid working rights for the Netherlands.

What We Offer

• Informal and Sporty Environment: An informal, international, and sports-focused work environment.

• Room for Initiative and Impact: Plenty of room for your ideas and the opportunity to make a real impact.

• Convenient Location: Free parking and walking distance from a train station at our headquarters.

• On-Site Gym: Access to a private gym with personal training that you can use anytime.

• Hospitality seats: Enjoy a great match at one of our business seats at football clubs all over the world.

• Commute coverage: Travel comfortably to and from the office knowing your commute is covered with €0.23 per km.

• All equipment you need: We provide you with a MacBook and a mouse and keyboard of choice. Need anything else? Let's talk!

• Pension Plan: An optional monthly deposit in our private pension plan, because we all want to live comfortably when we're old(er).

• Company events: Multiple times per year we organise formal and not-so-formal events in our office and elsewhere.

Our procedure consists of the following rounds:

1. Introductory video call with our Talent Acquisition Manager (± 20 min).

2. Assessment round (± 120 min).

3. In-office interview round 1 (± 45-60 min).

4. In-office interview round 2 (± 45-60 min)

Before the final interview we request every candidate to complete a personality questionnaire, which gives us insight as to how your personality could add value to the team.

If all goes well we will provide you with an offer letter and we can welcome you to the

team! Grab this opportunity and conquer the international football world with us!
