Faculty of Engineering and Technology - Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer

Qualifications and Experience Required:

• PhD/ Masters in Computer Engineering/ Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Artificial Intelligence/ Data Science or other related courses.
• Minimum 2 years teaching experience at tertiary or university level.
• Strong knowledge of core Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science and Computing subjects.
• Experience in curriculum delivery, assessment, and student academic support.
• Evidence of research, scholarly activity, or involvement in research innovation initiatives.
• Experience with online teaching technologies, virtual learning environments, and Learning Management systems.
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively manage both face – to – face and online classes.

Key Performance Areas (KPAs)

• Teach undergraduate Engineering and Computing courses through face-to-face and online platforms.
• Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, practical sessions, and learning materials.
• Develop course outlines, lesson plans, assignments, quizzes, examinations, and other assessment materials.
• Facilitate classroom and online discussions and encourage active student participation.
• Assess and grade student work in a timely, fair, and constructive manner.
• Provide academic advising, mentoring, and support to students.
• Maintain accurate student attendance, grades, assessment records, and other academic records.
• Effectively use Blackboard or other Learning Management System (LMS) for teaching, assessment communication, and student engagement.
• Incorporate virtual laboratories, simulations, practical activities, and digital learning tools where appropriate.
• Participate in curriculum development, review and continuous improvement of academic programmes.
• Undertake research and scholarly activities, including publications, conference participation, research projects, and innovation activities.
• Supervise and support student research projects where required.
• Ensure compliance with institutional academic policies, quality assurance standards, and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Participate in departmental and faculty meetings, academic committees, faculty development, and other institutional activities as required.

Core Competencies:

• Relevant professional or industry certifications.
  
• Research publications in peer-reviewed journals, conference papers, or other recognized scholarly outputs.
• Experience supervising undergraduate or postgraduate research projects.
  
• Experience in curriculum development, programme review, accreditation, or quality assurance.
  
• Relevant industry or innovation experience.
